At the Aged & Community Care Providers Association National Conference this week, Silverchain's Director of Research Discovery Adj Prof Tanya Davison presented the new framework for implementing technology-supported aged care at home. With more older Australians choosing to live independently, the demand for technology-enabled care models is rising. This evidence-based framework offers practical, step-by-step guidance for aged care providers to integrate digital technologies effectively. Developed in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute, the framework is tailored specifically for the Australian aged care context. Mental health affects many people – with one in five Australians experiencing a mental disorder in the past 12 months (AIHW, 2022). Older people are particularly vulnerable to poor mental health for many reasons, such as illness, frailty and loss of independence, grief and loss, financial stress, changing living arrangements and increasing social isolation. At Silverchain, we have developed an innovative model of care to address the mental health needs of our clients. You can read more here about our world first EMBED program and how we are advocating for older people experiencing depression and anxiety: https://loom.ly/R2qClxA #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #AgedCare

Silverchain was recently sponsored Curtin University’s School of Nursing Fifty Years of Excellence Conference. Two of Silverchain’s wound care experts shared their knowledge with conference delegates. Professor Keryln Carville presented two masterclasses on wound management – a service that Silverchain is recognised for globally. Gordana Petkovska, one of our Nurse Practitioners, also presented a session on pressure injuries in a community hospice service. Curtin School of Nursing is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector. 50 years is a wonderful milestone to achieve. Congratulations Curtin School of Nursing. #woundcare #woundmanagement #nursepractitioners

Today on International Day of Older Persons, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of older Australians and recognise the challenges they face. Older Australians make our communities more vibrant. They share wisdom, volunteer their time, and mentor our younger generation. They are our loved ones, neighbours, and role models. As one of Australia's leading providers of in home health and aged care, we advocate for the rights of older Australians, champion their independence, and uphold their right to choose where and how they receive their health and aged care. We are continually inspired by the resilience and spirit of our older clients and the dedication of our compassionate care teams. Thank you for all that you do. Take a moment to thank an older person in your life. Let them know how much you appreciate them. #InternationalDayofOlderPersons #IDOP #agedcare #homecare

We welcome the bipartisan agreement that has enabled the new Aged Care Act to be tabled in Parliament today. The future of care is in the home, not just in Australia but across the world, and the home care focus in these reforms empowers thousands of consumers with the right to choose where they receive their care. It is critical to ensure older Australians can have the best care outcomes and easily navigate aged care support. The release of more detail about Support at Home also gives consumers and providers the opportunity to prepare for these once-in-a-generation reforms. Silverchain is focused on ensuring older people can access high quality, innovative care as their needs and expectations change, delivering on our ambition to create a better home care system for all Australians.
