Our Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) is made up of a cross section of the Bethanie community including customers and family members. Their presence and involvement reinforces and aligns to our commitment to our mission – to positively change the way Australians experience ageing – and we are thankful for their input. These volunteer members attend customer meetings and speak with individuals at Bethanie locations and homes to understand matters relating to lived experience, and their feedback to the organisation is invaluable. Their influence forms part of the customer voice, informing the development, delivery and evaluation of care and services and ensures that feedback and communication remain open between stakeholders. Two of our CAG members spoke to us about the role CAG plays, and their involvement in the process. Read their thoughts here: https://bit.ly/3XLgksv

After 70 years of passionate service to enrich the ageing experience of older Australians, at Bethanie we understand the enormity of the responsibility of being good stewards and advocates for those that we serve. We celebrate the introduction of the new Aged Care Act in Parliament yesterday. The additional funding will support us to continue our journey to transform the ageing experience, better pay for those who work with such dedication in service of our customers, and the ability to invest capital in existing and new age care homes.

Strong data reinforces the value of inter-generational play, something Bethanie is committed to across a number of Aged Care Homes. “The physical benefits of play are substantial, but we also find that the mood lift at Kingsley lasts for days after the visit; this mental well-being boost cannot be under-estimated in aged care,” said Bethanie Kingsley’s Facility Manager Sue Harris. We’re excited to announce we are a finalist in the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards. Our team have created an innovative approach to keep residents and staff safe in Bushfire emergencies by using real-time bushfire monitoring technology. So far, the system has proven effective, with bushfire alerts received up to five hours before official notifications. Good luck to the team at the awards in October!

Our Chief Operating Officer Annie Pathak was joined by Facility Managers Jolande Potter and Sharon Beer for a panel discussion about the intersection of person-centred care and built form at the Ageing Well EXPO last Friday. Resident Pam Peters added to the conversation with her personal experience at Bethanie Geneff, where she has been encouraged and supported in her love for gardening.
