Ciao from the SmartSat CRC team at IAC2024, Milan! 👋🍝 Well, the first couple of days of the conference have been molto bene, with lots of meetings and opportunities to reconnect with our partners and collaborators from around the world, as well as with key international space professionals and leaders. The conference, hosted by the International Astronautical Federation, has provided our team with the chance to catch up with colleagues from the European Space Agency - ESA, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the UK Space Agency, and the New Zealand Space Agency (who hosted a lovely reception on Day 1). The team also got to meet with international partners involved in the Kanyini mission, including the North Pole/Antarctic ground station providers KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services, and the HyperScout 2 hyperspectral imager developers, cosine. SmartSat CEO, Professor Andy Koronios, took the opportunity while at the conference to sign an MoU with the Hellenic Space Center to enhance international cooperation in space science, technology, and innovation between Australia and Greece. You can read more about it here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/guWVbr53 If you are at the conference, make sure to attend the Taste of Australia Networking Drinks at the Australian Stand (Hall – MiCo South, Level 0), where SmartSat is proud to be supporting the Australian Space Agency and Space Industry Association of Australia to provide a preview of IAC 2025 Sydney! Come grab a glass of Australian wine & canapes while getting the scoop on IAC down under! 🦘🛸 #IAC2024 #Milan #SpaceConference #InternationalCollaboration

TEAM MEMBER APPRECIATION POST: Congratulations to SmartSat CRC's own Chief Research Officer, Dr Carl Seubert, for his work on NASA's Europa Clipper Mission, following its successful launch. 🚀 NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Europa Clipper has embarked on its long voyage to Jupiter, where it will investigate Europa, a moon with an enormous subsurface ocean that may have conditions to support life. During his time at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Dr Seubert was working as a Guidance and Control analyst, during which time he designed attitude algorithms to control Clippper with its thrusters, such as during launch and in the early orbit phases. An incredible achievement and a true testament to the power of collaboration! 🙌✨ #Space #Jupiter #EuropaClipper #Exploration #Collaboration
T+1.01: Clipper is starting her journey to Europa. After an amazing launch the pre-separation screenshot below clearly shows the multiple RCS engines that will control attitude and perform maneuvers. Arrays are deployed and super safe control is behind us. https://lnkd.in/gfWEz_ep A big congratulations to the whole team, particularly my GNC family, to get to this point in the mission. 🙌 To smooth sailing the rest of the way.
