August benchmarks for Organic Reach Rate are here and the dream run for Facebook continues. While 2.16% Organic Reach Rate might not seem like much, this is a considerable increase when you look back at 2024 and how Facebook ORR was sub-1% in January this year. Organic Reach Rate (ORR) is the percentage of people who saw posts organically (ie: without paid ads / boosting). Facebook’s 3-sec Video View Rate benchmark has halved in just 4 short months. But why? This benchmark is based on Video Views of at least 3 seconds which is the default for Facebook. Importantly, the 3-second Video View metric only relates to Facebook Videos, not Facebook Reels. Once considered short, 3-seconds might be considered more of a ‘longer’ watch time given the fact that Reels (and TikTok) has changed the game and turned us all into hyper-scrolling addicts with super short attention spans. Facebook Reels don’t have a 3-second Video View metric and are instead treated just like Instagram Reels. Facebook counts a ‘play’ immediately (at 0-seconds) for all Facebook Reels. LinkedIn VVR on the other hand is on the way back up after a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the last 12 months. Like Facebook Videos, LinkedIn counts a video view at 3-seconds by default.
