Here's some quick tips to help your garden beat the heat and make the most of our precious water supplies.🌞 💧 Only water plants early in the morning or late in the afternoon to reduce evaporation. 👇 Stick your finger in the soil, if it’s moist below the surface, there’s no need to water. ☔ If rain is on the way, let nature do the work for you! 🌳 Focus water on the plant roots, this is where plants absorb water most effectively. 🌻 Cover garden beds with mulch to lock in moisture, keep soil cool and reduce evaporation.

This #InternationalWomensDay, we're thrilled to be named a Top 101 Australian Workplace for Women by WORK180 for another year running! It's a proud moment, but we know there's more to do. Globally, millions of women still face unfulfilled promised of equality and it's time to turn promises into progress. This week, we joined panel discussions hosted by Greater Western Water, Work180, Engineers Australia, Frankston City Council and Frankston Social Enterprise and Innovation Hub, where they shared their insights, experiences and visions for advancing gender equality and empowerment in our industry. Our vision is clear, to be a safe, progressive and inclusive employer where everyone is valued for who they are. A workplace free from discrimination, prejudice or bias, where your rights, talents and expertise are embraced, celebrated and rewarded.

Have you ever heard of biochar? 🔥 FareShare, a meal relief charity, used its 2024 Community Grant to purchase a biochar kiln, turning organic waste into nutrient-rich fertiliser. Their impressive garden in Clayton South grows the produce for meals that support over 1 million vulnerable Victorians each year. By integrating biochar, their crops will thrive, allowing them to grow even more vegetables! 🙌 With the help of over 140 incredible volunteers, FareShare's sustainable project is tackling food insecurity while protecting the environment by reducing emissions and waste. ♻

Imagine growing up in a landlocked country and stepping into the ocean for the first time. 🌊 For 42 Nepalese women, that moment became a reality thanks to Didi Bahini Samaj Victoria and a 2024 South East Water Community Grant. With little opportunity to learn water safety in Nepal, this project offered beach safety training with Life Saving Victoria. 🏄♀️ Now, these brave women have been equipped with the skills, confidence, and freedom to enjoy the beach safely with their families. 🏊♀️ “I never thought I’d feel comfortable in the water, but this program has changed that completely,” said participant Sanju Subedi. We’re proud to support projects that empower our vulnerable community members to live safer, healthier lives. 💙
