Did you know about 300,000 people call St John WA through Triple Zero (000) each year? Of these calls, about one-in-five do not require an ambulance to be dispatched. Remember to save Triple Zero (000) for emergencies so we can continue to help our most vulnerable members of the community, and make sure to utilise the below resources if necessary. Thank you to Glencore Minara Community Foundation and AngloGold Ashanti Australia for their generous $140,000 donation towards accommodation at our Laverton Sub Centre in the Goldfields for visiting volunteers to help service the community in times of need. This helps saves lives and could not be achieved without providing safe accommodation, with travel and food expenses generously subsidised by Genesis Minerals Limited. By working together, this space gives volunteers somewhere to rest after long drives for a region which spans up to 180,000 square-kilometres.
We’re so excited to be part of this brand-new accommodation building for St John WA volunteers in Laverton. AngloGold Ashanti Australia Sunrise Dam General Manager Sam Rodda and Manager: Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Rosemarie Lane joined representatives from St John and Glencore recently to celebrate its official opening. The support of AGAA and the Glencore Minara Community Foundation contributed to the two-bedroom accommodation facility which will house volunteer ambulance officers as part of St John's 'Voluntourism' program. Launched in 2020, the program provides its volunteers throughout WA an opportunity to grow and develop through exposure to different challenges and locations across regional areas. The facility is fitted with air conditioning throughout and all the modern conveniences, and volunteers also have access to a spare vehicle.

We're proud to be the first Australian emergency service to achieve The Menopause Friendly Australia Accreditation. One of just four employers in the region. With 70 per cent of women feeling uncomfortable discussing their symptoms at work, this accreditation is a huge step towards reducing stigma and ensuring our team members feel more supported through menopause.
