Since construction of the Metro Tunnel began in 2016 the iconic St Kilda Road has seen many changes, the latest being the completion of major construction on Anzac Station.  The station – the third of five new state-of-the-art stations to be finished – will provide a quick and easy rail connection to the Domain area, including the Shrine of Remembrance and Royal Botanic Gardens.    Located on St Kilda Road, Anzac Station has 4 entrances with stairs, lifts and escalators that link to a new pedestrian underpass beneath busy St Kilda Road.    Anzac Station has been designed as a “pavilion in the park” with its signature 85m long, 21m wide timber canopy’s skylights filling the station with natural light, reducing reliance on artificial lighting.    The tram stop, which opened in 2022, has extra-long platforms that can fit 4 trams at a time for large crowds attending events such as Anzac Day and the Melbourne Grand Prix.    The stop will be Melbourne’s first direct tram/train interchange, providing a seamless connection between tram and train services, while the station takes pressure off the world’s busiest tram corridor.

Exciting progress at Pakenham station construction, where the future is taking shape before our eyes. This ambitious project, a collaboration between the Level Crossing Removal Project, Genton, John Holland, and Stilcon Steel, aims to create a station that will not only serve as a bustling pedestrian and shopping precinct but also seamlessly connect the Pakenham community to various public transport options. Dulux® Protective Coatings, Chris Eldred, has been part of the Pakenham Station project, specifying coating systems instrumental in several stages of the build. A standout feature is the design of skylights flooding the space with natural light and showcasing stunning bronze canopies upon completion. Stilcon Steel fabricates these skylights with attention to detail, evident through the implementation of two coating stages. The concealed sections coated with Dulux® Zincanode® 402 primer, protect the steel from corrosion. For the top of the skylights, a four-coat system enhances aesthetics and durability. The system includes Zincanode 402, Dulux® Durebild® STE, Dulux® Quantum® FX, and Dulux® Durethane™ Low Sheen, ensuring a long-lasting and visually appealing result. We look forward to seeing Pakenham Station when completed. 🚉 Exciting Collaboration between Stilcon & Dulux on the Pakenham Station Project! 🚉 The Level Crossing Removal Project in partnership with Genton, John Holland and Stilcon Steel, is constructing the new Pakenham Station as part of the initiative to remove three level crossings in Pakenham. To ensure the longevity and protection of the infrastructure, a protective coating system from Dulux® Protective Coatings was used for the lift shafts, steel columns, and skylights. These elements are coated at the Stilcon Paint Facility and then transported to site for installation by our expert rigging and installation team. This project will benefit Pakenham and Melbourne by removing level crossings, extending the rail track, reducing congestion, and improving service reliability.

The Level Crossing Removal Project in collaboration with Genton, John Holland, and Stilcon Steel, is working tirelessly to construct the Pakenham station as part of the fast-tracked project to remove three level crossings in Pakenham. The new Pakenham Station will provide a safer and more direct link between public transport, the town centre, and additional parking, but it will also showcase the regional and metropolitan character of Pakenham. Inspired by the suburb's rolling hills and bronze sunsets, the station's iconic roof is a true masterpiece. Supported by 16 steel circular columns finished in a four-coat system, this design adds a touch of modernity to the overall look of the station. To ensure the longevity and protection of the infrastructure, a protective coating system was used for the lift shafts, steel columns, and skylights. Chris Eldred from the Dulux® Protective Coatings Victorian team assisted in the specification and provided technical support for the coating system and process. The construction of the new Pakenham station is a monumental project that benefits the residents of Pakenham and Melbourne. • We're proud to have played a significant role in one of the most sustainable transport projects in Melbourne's west! Last year, our team worked tirelessly to remove the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road and unveil the new Deer Park Station. Not only did this initiative alleviate congestion and enhance safety, but it also underscored our commitment to environmental stewardship.

🙌 Introducing one of the most sustainable transport projects in Melbourne‘s west! 🚉 Last year we removed the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road and opened the new Deer Park Station, easing congestion, improving safety and caring for the environment while we did it. Check out these impressive numbers from the project: ♻️ 125,000 pieces of recycled soft plastic used in construction materials. ♻️ 80% of construction waste processed with an industrial recycler for reuse. ♻️ Enough solar power generated to power the equivalent of 10 homes. ♻️ 44% of the project is covered by vegetation – including 2 rooftop gardens. • CoolSeal at the Deer Park Station car park.
    • Polyrock, a structural material made from recycled soft plastics, was used throughout the project.
