As productivity on construction projects across Singapore is being affected by rising temperatures, TBH Asia Director, Meiske Sompie was recently interviewed by the The Business Times to share her insights about possible solutions to address it. Commenting on a mandate from Singapore’s Ministry or Manpower (MOM), which stated that from April 2024 government agencies will place a minimum weightage of 5% for safety related criteria in construction tenders for projects over SGD 1 million, Meiske said “that can be a good real difference… to make sure that part of the tender evaluation is not only on cost and time, but also to show a good track record about how you adopt and implement safety measures in your workforce.” With over 25 years’ experience working on high-risk, and large-scale construction projects for industries including data centres, ICT and critical facilities, Meiske provides expert guidance to clients on planning, governance, and delivery frameworks on projects across Asia and Australia.
