In late April, we received direct contact from the office of the Honourable Paul Fletcher, the Federal Shadow Minister for Science, Arts, Government Services, and the Digital Economy. After reviewing our articles in InnovationAus.com [https://lnkd.in/gGRXa28g], AusBiotech Journal [https://lnkd.in/gnWzmiwb], and City of Melbourne News [https://lnkd.in/g-GWYSmm], Minister Fletcher expressed a keen interest in the profound impact our RealBrain technology could have on drug development and patient outcomes. On May 7, we had the honour of hosting him at our new facilities in Jumar Bioincubator. During his visit, we showcased our groundbreaking work and discussed potential policy changes needed to support deep-tech companies like Tessara Therapeutics. We believe that streamlining the commercialisation of novel technologies is crucial for advancing global health. 🧠 The brain is our most valuable asset. It shapes our memories, identity, and engagement with the world. At Tessara Therapeutics, we have developed RealBrain® technology, a platform featuring microscopic in-vitro human "mini-brains." Using biomaterials and human neural stem cells, we can generate a spectrum of models that accurately mimic the behaviour of healthy and or diseased human brain tissue. 🌟 Exciting News from Tessara Therapeutics! 🌟 Just a few days ago, we had the incredible opportunity to welcome the ByDesign TV filming crew to our new home at Jumar Bioincubator. They captured the magic behind our pioneering work - crafting human neural micro-tissues, or as we like to call them, 🧠 mini-brains 🧠 It may sound like science fiction, but for us, it's just another day at the office! In front of the cameras, we shared our vision: to revolutionise brain health for everyone. Our journey is supported by the leaps in biotechnology and regulatory sectors, advocating for more human-relevant drug discovery platforms. Our aim? To speed up the discovery and development of therapies for neurological conditions, such as #Alzheimer's and #dementia. We're still pinching ourselves - seeing how our concept has transformed into reality, thanks to the expertise and support from CSIRO's Kick-Start program. A huge shoutout to Camille Shanahan and the Jumar team; and to Megan Sebben and the entire Kick-Start team for their invaluable assistance to early-stage companies like ours.
