About us

The Healing Foundation is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions like the forced removal of children from their families. We work with communities to create a place of safety, providing an environment for Stolen Generations members and their families to speak for themselves, tell their own stories and be in charge of their own healing.

The Healing Foundation recognises the people behind the Stolen Generations organisations who work tirelessly. - Their warmth, experience and humour are an important part of Stolen Generations survivors, families and descendants healing journeys. - The resourcefulness of the work being done by these organisations is a testament to the strength of community and culture, many organisations completing this work with volunteers and little resourcing. - We look forward to sharing more of the stories, and insights from the Stolen Generations Gathering over the coming weeks and months. Together we will continue to advocate for the effective implementation of the outstanding recommendations from the Bringing Them Home report. - Now, more than ever the Country must honour, remember and know that this work is unfinished. - 📷 Tiffany Parker - - - #healingourway #stolengenerations #bringingthemhome #unfinishedbusiness

Queensland's Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry has conducted it’s public hearings in Brisbane before it travels to other parts of the state. The Healing Foundation's Stolen Generations Reference Group member, Uncle David Wragge has participated and also shared his story with the ABC. The inquiry aims to examine the impact of colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and will make findings, recommendations and provide advice to the Queensland government. The Inquiry acts independently and will listen and hear the voices of those who haven’t been heard before in history as the Inquiry searches for and shares Queensland’s history. https://lnkd.in/gK78AQcx
