🏆 Celebrating the Award-Winning Blue Care Sunrise Beach Residential Aged Care Project! We are thrilled to share that in December 2024, the Blue Care Sunrise Beach project was awarded Best Seniors Living Development at the UDIA Queensland Awards! This recognition is a testament to the vision, collaboration, and dedication that brought this exceptional project to life. Nestled just 3km from Hastings Street in Noosa and overlooking the breathtaking Noosa National Park, this project came with unique challenges due to its sensitive environment. However, at ThomsonAdsett, we saw this as an opportunity—to create a design that not only integrates seamlessly with its surroundings but celebrates this stunning part of the world. ✨ A Design Rooted in Care and Place ✔ Small House Model – Breaking down the scale into four two-story homes, fostering an intimate and familiar living environment for 102 residents. ✔ Climate-Responsive Design – Thoughtfully positioned buildings around courtyards and covered walkways to embrace natural light, ventilation, and expansive views. ✔ A True Hybrid Approach – A model that supports Blue Care’s Tailor Made person-centered care while achieving operational efficiency. This project would not have been possible without the incredible collaboration between UnitingCare Queensland's project team, the BlueCare team, the builder BADGE Constructions, landscape architects Urbis and town planner RPS. Your dedication and expertise have helped create a community where residents can truly live their best life. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to have been part of such a meaningful project. #AwardWinning #Architecture #AgedCare #DesignWithPurpose #Community #Wellbeing #BlueCare #SunriseBeach #UDIA #ThomsonAdsett

We are thrilled to announce the successful opening of the Noosa Specialist Medical Centre, a transformative development by Trident Property Advisory and Cancer Care Associates. This state-of-the-art centre is now fully operational and is already making a significant impact on healthcare in the Noosa region. Offering a range of medical and allied health services, the centre is providing the local community comprehensive cancer treatment options with services from our anchor tenant, Cancer Care Noosa. Pino Gentile of ThomsonAdsett carefully designed our built form with patient comfort at its core. The health precinct features biophilic design elements, abundant natural light, and tranquil spaces that connect occupants with the surrounding natural environment. Delivered on schedule and within budget, we couldn’t be happier with the exceptional work of our construction partners Integral Construction led by Justin Costanzo who assisted in bringing the vision to reality.  We look forward to announcing our other Medical Tenants and unveiling their fit-outs in the next weeks. Limited leasing opportunities remain for medical professionals interested in joining this innovative healthcare hub. 🎉 Proudly Unveiling one of Brisbane’s First Suburban Coles Local! 🛒 One of Brisbane’s first suburban Coles Local supermarket has opened, with more in the pipeline, it's a significant step in redefining the suburban supermarket experience. Local supermarkets are predominantly based in more high-end Brisbane suburbs, where the high streets have suffered as a result of customers being drawn away to large shopping centers. Nestled in Taringa Village, this 2690 sqm supermarket (with a 150 sqm Liquorland and 99 off-street parking spaces) this Coles serves as a much-needed anchor, breathing life back into the high street and offering residents more choice closer to home.   Conceived during the challenges of the COVID lockdowns, the design includes articulated facades fronting Moggill Road and Swann Road, including a prominent architectural corner element.    This project is a testament to our strong partnership with Coles and the collaborative effort of @Kenik and @Hutchinson Builders. Together, we’ve delivered an innovative and carefully considered outcome for this complex site.   We’re proud of what Coles Local Taringa represents—a catalyst for revitalising suburban communities.   Stay tuned for more projects as Coles Local continues its rollout in Queensland!   Image credits - Hutchinsons Builders https://lnkd.in/g9YHwZGy #thomsonadsett #coles #revitalisingsuburbs #brisbanecommunity

  • TA Education team at Redeemer Lutheran College’s Learning Environments Australasia Tour! 🌟 Earlier this week, some of our education team at ThomsonAdsett joined LEA Qld members for an exclusive tour of Redeemer Lutheran College’s Innovation Centre. This dynamic new space, nestled in a serene forest setting, fosters a holistic approach to education, with a “learning street” that includes Science, Design, Robotics and even an Esports room!! The building was designed to evolve with future connections to the school chapel, encouraging restorative practices and nurturing collaborative learning. A special shoutout to Arijana Gregovic, now with us at ThomsonAdsett, who played a pivotal role in bringing this incredible project to life during her time with Bickerton Masters. Seeing her enthusiasm and deep passion for the building design and how it functions, along with the pride and excitement from the client, was truly inspiring! Congrats Arijana Gregovic – an amazing project to be very proud of. We love LEA site tours which brings architects and educators together to share great design ideas that reflect the future of education, ultimately benefiting the educators and students these spaces are created for.

HOW TO DESIGN A HOME TO WITHSTAND A CATEGORY 5 CYCLONE? We recently ran an in-house design competition, where teams of 2 got together to research, sketch and then present their designs for a new family home in Far North Queensland that is responsive to the climate conditions and practices innovative sustainability principles. The scope for the house was to: Withstand severe tropical cyclonic conditions (Category 5) Demonstrate strong sustainability design principles Show a connection to the location and surroundings Be above ground No budget All the designs were definitely unique and well thought through, but our overall winners were Laura Tanner (Architect) and Kate Henderson (Architectural Graduate).   Their design, called The Confetti House, was specifically designed to withstand the harsh conditions of cyclone-prone areas. It features a robust structure highlighted by its strong, colourful walls. Key elements include a deep foundation and reinforced concrete block or steel frames that securely anchor the building, while aerodynamic shapes and wind bracing minimize wind impact.   The roof is fortified with cyclone-rated straps and secured materials, and windows and doors are protected by impact-resistant glass. The building is elevated to avoid flooding, with effective drainage systems in place to manage water flow.   Emergency preparedness is ensured through backup power supplies and designated safe rooms. The landscape is strategically designed with windbreaks and secured outdoor items to further enhance safety. The Confetti House not only meets but exceeds local building codes, providing both durability and vibrancy in North Queensland’s cyclone-prone environments. It was a great way to break up the working work and collaborate with other teams members in the studio.
