Robin Reed didn’t plan on a career in infrastructure. He found it by chance—thanks to an inspiring geography teacher, a careers leaflet, and a deep curiosity about the built environment and the natural world. That curiosity led him from transport planning in Brighton, UK, to a top global talent programme at Mott MacDonald, a career-defining leap to Australia, and now, his biggest role yet: Managing Director of TSA Riley’s Australian business. We sat down with Robin to talk about: 💡 How following his passion—and saying yes—led to a career he loves. 💡 What it takes to deliver sustainable transport projects when not everyone is on board. 💡 Why stepping outside your comfort zone feels unsettling—and why that’s a good thing. 💡 Why people choose to stay at TSA Riley—and how he plans to strengthen the support, structure, and opportunities that help them grow. 💡 Why strong relationships matter as much as technical expertise when it comes to driving lasting impact for clients and communities. 📖 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gdb6cB4t #TSARiley #ManagingDirector #SideBySide #ConnectedIntelligence #Leadership #Infrastructure #SustainableTransport

In this article, Angelos Markou, explores the most common renewable energy technologies, typical causes of disputes and dispute resolution methods, together with notable cases. Key Highlights: - Overview of hydroelectric, wind, solar and waste-to-energy technologies. - Common causes of disputes: construction, technology, weather, investors-states and joint ventures. - Dispute resolution methods: arbitration, litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Not in my back yard!...is often a challenge when it comes to delivering temporary homeless accommodation - but not this time. 9th September 2024: On the same day Michael Buchanan's article “A Tent City Next to Mayfair” appeared on the BBC News website, highlighting 24 tents housing rough sleepers on Park Lane, a contractor took possession of a site where 24 temporary modular homes will open their doors in March. Coincidence!? The themes within the article collectively underline the complexity of homelessness, the multifaceted pressures exacerbating the crisis, and the need for coordinated, well-funded, and innovative strategies to address it effectively. "The 1.5m homes the government has committed to building during the lifetime of this Parliament will take some time to appear, yet the homeless problem is both immediate and urgent." The 24 modular homes being delivered for the Essex based charity, CHESS Homeless, are proof that with determination and expertise, quality and energy efficient temporary homeless accommodation can be delivered at pace (blank canvass to Completion in 18 months 😎). The project is a blueprint for action, with the potential to unlock the delivery of many more homes to address the crisis, so please do get in touch! The particular ingredients have comprised: - a committed charity: CHESS Homeless, with a site and strong fundraising abilities - a supportive local authority: Chelmsford City Council offering responsiveness, collaboration, and timely decision-making. - Government funding: Homes England's SHAP funding (Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme). - a dedicated professional team: consultants (many providing pro-bono services, see below) working collaboratively and efficiently. - a specialist in supported modular home communities that tackle homelessness: Allia - an experienced delivery partner: contractor and modular manufacturer Hill Group UK and Volumetric Modular Ltd - local contributors: Sub-contractors and suppliers, generously gifting materials and labour to ensure financial viability. This is a great example of what’s possible when everyone works together toward a shared goal. Let’s make projects like this the norm, not the exception (if only there was a mic-drop emoji!)
