We're the government’s housing and regeneration agency. We help create affordable, quality homes and drive regeneration.
About us
As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we believe affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. We help make this happen by combining our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and build more quality homes. We achieve this by forming long-term partnerships that bridge the public and private sectors and by using our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed. We also use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting building safety. Together, with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country. However, our ambitious and exciting agenda can only be achieved through collaboration and commitment. Whatever your role in the built environment, we’re your partner in housing and regeneration and we’re here to help. We’re the #HousingAndRegenerationAgency. Following the publication of the government’s Levelling Up White Paper, Homes England has also been tasked with a core role in spearheading regeneration, partnering with places to reduce economic disparity, empower local leaders and create equal opportunities across the country to ensure communities reach their full potential.

Trailblazing! The Combined Authority has signed a new partnership agreement with Homes England to support local ambitions to build new housing. The agreement establishes a shared ambition between the Combined Authority and Homes England to use our collective strengths to accelerate the housing and infrastructure that meets the region’s needs and supports economic growth and environmental goals. This is the first Strategic Place Partnership agreed by Homes England since the announcement of the Devolution White Paper, putting Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority at the forefront of driving growth in the region. Working with our local councils, the aim will be to create a pipeline of investment-ready projects which link with local priorities, as well as the region's recently agreed Shared Ambition. Nik Johnson gives his perspective below. This morning, we announced a new Strategic Place Partnership (SPP) with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA). In support of the government’s plans to deliver 1.5 million new homes over the next five years, Strategic Place Partnerships are one of the ways we advance locally-led housing and regeneration, by helping local leaders drive growth in their own communities. Our new partnership with CPCA will blend our respective strengths and resources to channel the Agency’s investment directly into local priorities. It signifies our long-term commitment to the region and, in addition to our ongoing work on large-scale developments like Northstowe and Waterbeach, we’ll be working with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority to develop a new plan for housing, regeneration and growth in the area. Colleagues from our Manchester office recently visited Middlewood Locks, seeing first-hand how this former 25-acre brownfield site is being transformed into a thriving canal-side neighbourhood. With thanks to our Head of Structured Property Finance Terry Errington and Scarborough Group International Group Sales and Marketing Director Nicola Wallis, who led the tour. Terry’s team in Structural Real Estate Finance played a key role in facilitating a £30 million development loan in 2022, supporting the continued development of Middlewood Locks. One of the most innovative aspects of the project is the podium gardens, elevating shared green spaces above servicing and car parking, maximising land use while creating high-quality outdoor spaces for residents. There’s already a strong sense of community forming, it’s a fantastic example of regeneration and placemaking in action. #WeAreHomesEngland
