❗2026 National Census will not count LGBTIQA+ communities❗ The Albanese government's decision to not include LGBTIQA+ communities in the next national census abandons the Australian Labor Party National Platform that states, “Labor believes that LGBTIQ+ Australians should be counted as part of the national census." This decision will have significant negative impacts on LGBTIQA+ communities, perpetuating the major data gaps that are needed to address health and wellbeing concerns for communities. This is such an important step forward to protect trans folks, and upholds the principles of the 1984 Sex Discrimination Act. 🏠 Homelessness Week 2024 - 5-11 AUG 2024🏠 Did you know that of all people experiencing homelessness in 2023, 23% were aged 12-24? Did you also know that LGBTIQA+ people are TWICE as likely to experience homelessness compared to their peers? We are experiencing a housing crisis and young LGBTIQA+ people are being affected more than ever.
