Sandvik and Adriatic Metals Plc have commissioned what they say is the first underground mining automation implementation in the Balkan region, deploying AutoMine® Multi-Lite at Adriatic Metals’ flagship Vareš silver project in central Bosnia. The two-phase implementation features two operator stations and three Sandvik underground loaders, including Toro® LH517i and Toro LH514 units. The system is now operational across two production levels, enabling Adriatic Metals to sustain continuous, around-the-clock production. Why did GOLD FIELDS select Universal Field Robots (UFR) to develop automated haul trucks for their underground mines in Australia? According to Gold Fields Regional Manager, Operations, Michael Place: "For Gold Fields, when we're on this technology path, we want to be agnostic. So, working with UFR allows us to automate any OEM that we want rather than being locked into a specific vendor. UFR can implement their technology across any fleet type and that's the reason that we were so excited to partner with them." A sincere thank you to the Gold Fields Australia team for their vision and collaboration on this valuable project. Interoperability could be the key to delivering a 10 – 20% performance improvement in mining. Friction in a mechanism is the force that resists movement. In organizations, there is friction that resists progress, and interoperability is the oil to remove it. If we can perfect interoperability, wasted time and resources will be a thing of the past, and we would enjoy less disturbance and increased sustainability. Learn more about how interoperability is transforming the industry in the latest article with Jeff Sterling, Managing Director of Universal Field Robots, featured in the Bowen Basin Mining Club Yearbook: https://lnkd.in/e39eTNkF #Sandvik #UniversalFieldRobots #Interoperability #MiningInnovation #Automation
