"At the University of Adelaide we stand on the shoulders of powerhouse woman scholars, trailblazers who rewrote the rule books. Women who faced barriers from every corner of society and pushed forward anyway. Their grit and courage are the reason we get to dream bigger today." On International Women's Day 2025, we shine a light on these women and their achievements 🌟 Read the article by University of Adelaide staff member, Jo Herraman: https://lnkd.in/gbUrXWer

The University of Adelaide today unveiled a bronze statue of ABLE alum, Professor Fay Gale AO, making her the first woman in the University’s history to receive such an honour ⭐ The late Professor Gale was a champion of women’s rights in Australia and a pioneering scholar in Aboriginal studies. She was the University of Adelaide’s first Honours graduate in Geography, and she was the first woman to hold a senior management role at the University of Adelaide. Her impact continues today through ABLE’s Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender. Professor Gale’s statue celebrates female scholars in the University's past, present, and future, and was created by figurative sculptor and bronze worker Meliesa Judge of Liquid Metal Studios 👏 Read more about Professor Gale and the statue: https://lnkd.in/gT5K8ZPV

I had never taken on the responsibility of covering multiple roles and was a bit nervous, but with such a fun and hilarious show supported by a great cast the process has been so fun.
