👏 Congratulations to all of the Business School students involved in the panel discussions held at UTS House this week as part of the SXSW Sydney Festival. 💡 Audiences were fascinated by the two student-led talks during a week of thought-provoking presentations on future trends and emerging technology. Thursday’s session featured Hannah Cerezo, Cedric Kutschera, Eva Tkocz and Kaelyn Lai, discussing hybrid work models with Joshua Carless (QBE Insurance, General Manager, Strategic Finance). In this afternoon’s panel, Gabriella Robinson and Henry Cameron were in conversation with Lorenzo Casavecchia (Associate Head of UTS Finance Department and Program Coordinator, UTS Anchor Fund), John Birkhold (Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer, TWC Invest) and Michael Block (Adjunct Professor, UTS Business School) about the UTS Anchor Investment Fund, a student-managed investment fund. 🏆 Congratulations to Shaun Christie-David for his well-deserved win at last week’s 2024 UTS Alumni Awards! After graduating from UTS Business School, Shaun shifted from a finance career into the not-for-profit and charity sector. In 2020, he created Plate it Forward, which provides 2,000 restaurant-quality meals each week to those facing food insecurity, as well as training and employment opportunities for members of these communities. Additionally, in partnership with the Australian Federal Government, he developed the Aboriginal Health Television Network, an in-language, culturally appropriate platform that aims to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal communities and First Nations people.
