Buying a new partner expensive gifts all the time? Showering someone in excessive compliments? Pestering someone for their number until they finally say ‘yes’? These gestures can be a type of emotional manipulation known as love bombing. ❤️💣 In their Red Flags series, Respect Victoria explores love bombing in detail, including what it looks like, how to tell it apart from genuine affection, and how to talk about it with your friends and find support. Introducing 2024’s Change Agents on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women. 🕵️ 🌟 Kate Austin survived family violence and turned every hurdle she's faced into an opportunity to create change. She founded Pinchapoo Australia, so people can donate unused hotel toiletries to those in need. 🌟 Melanie Bahlo has made fundamental discoveries, transforming our understanding of genetic diseases. She heads a research team at WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research). 🌟 Ada Cheung established the Trans Health Research Group at University of Melbourne when she heard of trans people being refused healthcare. Her research has had great impact, leading to the development of new gender clinics, training for health professionals and more. 🌟 Kudzai Kanhutu is Dean of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the first woman to hold this prestigious role in its history. Her leadership in driving community health improvements has been acknowledged through numerous awards. 🌟 Catriona McLean is estimated to have looked at close to a million slides under a microscope over her decades-long career. She provides diagnoses for brain tumours, epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases, doing most of her work voluntarily. 🌟 Jennifer Morris survived multiple near-fatal healthcare system failures and errors, then dedicated her life to ending the scourge of preventable patient harm in healthcare. With Jen's lived experience, she compels the healthcare system to do more to keep patients safe. 🌟 Julie Oberin has dedicated her life to eradicating violence against women. She pioneered innovative practices such as the importance of children being recognised as family violence victims, and the need for culturally sensitive services. 🌟 Manjula Datta O'Connor is an award-winning psychiatrist, clinician, researcher, leader, educator, and advocate. Her clinically based research shone a light on dowry abuse, and instigated community-based family violence prevention. 🌟 Hypertension-induced heart disease is a poorly recognised condition in women. Jun Yang creates change in this space through innovative research, dedicated clinical service, advocacy for patients and more. Today, we honour the service and sacrifice of the 2/14th Field Regiment with a wreath laying ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance at 10am. The 2/14th was an artillery unit formed on 17 October in 1940 for service during World War Two. The unit was stationed in Darwin from 1940 through the 60 bombing raids on the city. They were deployed overseas to support the 5th Division's operations in New Guinea in 1944 and in New Britain in 1945. Their final duty was as a garrison force on Rabaul before they were disbanded in January 1946.
