About us

The St Vincent de Paul Society fondly known as Vinnies is one of Western Australia’s longest serving and respected charitable organisations. It offers a hand up to people in need in the community while encouraging a greater understanding of social justice issues. Volunteers provide support through the emergency relief program which addresses the needs of people predominately in their own homes. Assistance includes food, material aid, utility bills, shelter, advocacy and friendship. Vinnies also has a range of specialised support programs across Western Australia including recovery-focused mental health services, services to prevent or alleviate homelessness, programs for young people, financial counselling and refugee and migrant services.

A big thank you to Red Dot for selecting our Passages Youth Engagement Hubs as their recent charity partner. They raised over $29,000 to help provide essential services like case management, health programs, and educational support, empowering vulnerable youth to build brighter futures. Passages plays a vital role in supporting young people aged 12-25 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. With Red Dot’s support, Passages can continue being a safe space for young people in need. 🙌 Passages is a joint venture between Vinnies WA and Rotary Clubs of Perth and Mandurah.

One of our shops recently had the pleasure of a being joined by a group of BHP Western Australia volunteers for a day. Not only did they have fun team building, they also made a positive contribution to the WA community, with the revenue generated from our shops vital in funding our specialist and community engagement programs and services. If you would like to learn more about corporate volunteering in our shops or Distribution Centre, please email volunteer@svdpwa.org.au or send us the direct message.

As we near the end of Homelessness Week, we want to highlight an ongoing and increasing issue within our community, youth homelessness. Through Passages Engagement Hubs, our youth specialist support service, we work to reduce lifelong impacts of homelessness by supporting unaccompanied vulnerable children and youth experiencing homelessness in the Perth and Peel region by providing a supportive and safe environment where they can feel comfortable, secure, and cared for. With numbers increasing in youth presenting to our engagement hubs and 75% of people who are homeless as adults first experiencing homelessness before the age of 25, more awareness, action and support for services such as ours, is needed in this space.   Passages Youth Engagement Hubs are a joint venture between Vinnies WA and Rotary Clubs of Mandurah and Perth.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to help the most vulnerable members of the community this winter. The overwhelming response by generous supporters has helped: * Provide emergency food hampers for so many people who needed them *Cover transport costs so people can get to work *Help for families to pay for basic living essentials like utility bills and medical expenses *Give ongoing support so vulnerable people can remain in their home Your support is already making a life-changing impact for people like Luke*, and his dad Colin*. As Luke said, "I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to Vinnies. They helped me and my dad when we had nowhere else to turn to. Now, thanks to you, they can be there for even more people like us who need help getting their lives back on track." Thank you once again for being such an incredible community of generous supporters. * Names and images have been changed to protect privacy. Thank you for understanding.
