As part of our International Women's Day activities, many of our people came together with others in the energy sector for a Women in Energy - Perth event on 'Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Business Impact', joining the discussion on how meaningful equity is a powerful business driver. Attendees heard from a panel of WA executives who gave insights on gender equity in their operations, including our very own Executive Manager Asset Operations, Zane Christmas. Zane shed light on how a diverse and equitable workforce underpins our success as a business, and is crucial to attracting and developing incredible talent as we help build a cleaner energy future for WA - women now make up 33% of leadership roles at Western Power with 46% in senior leadership. Ashley Groeneweg, one of our Engineering Team Leaders, said there was a real buzz in the room and wealth of insights on offer. "I really appreciated the emphasis on standing tall and knowing your value to an organisation. We've got to trust that all the experiences that brought us to where we are will help us succeed and overcome any immediate challenge." Gender equity is an essential part of our diversity strategy and workplace culture, and we look forward to continuing to bring together diverse expertise and experiences for better outcomes for the community and our employees. More exciting news for WA's energy future ✨ We're delighted to have partnered with Australian company UGL to deliver electricity infrastructure works as part of the Clean Energy Link - North project. The agreement with UGL will see extensions to the existing Neerabup substations, providing a boost for cleaner energy in the Wheatbelt and Mid West regions. The news comes after we recently announced an agreement with GenusPlus Group to build the first parts of the project, which is set to unlock northern network transmission capacity and renewable energy generation opportunities. 👏 Congratulations to all leaders and teams involved at UGL! We look forward to working together to power a cleaner energy future for WA. For more info, visit: https://bit.ly/3WqhTem #cleanenergy #energyfuture
