👏 A big congratulations to the Neoen Australia team for successfully delivering Stage 1 of the Collie Battery project.   We're proud to have partnered with Neoen to connect WA's newest battery to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). We also extend our thanks and congratulations to Tesla Energy, UGL, Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), the WA Government and the Shire of Collie for their vital contributions towards this achievement.   We look forward to continuing to work with our energy partners as we build a cleaner energy future for WA.   #colliebattery #bigbattery #battery #energy #cleanenergy

The 219 MW / 877 MWh Stage 1 of Collie Battery - our 1st 4-hour duration big battery is successfully operating & delivering critical grid-support services to the SWIS in Western Australia !! 🤠 🎯 This time last year, our construction teams Tesla Energy and UGL were starting civil works for WA's largest #storage system. Today, we are proudly delivering our commitments under contract with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) making sure WA is supported in its transition to #renewables & prepared to meet its #energy demands over the summer of 2024/25! 🔋 ☀ We are grateful to be welcomed by the Bibullman nation, the Shire of Collie, Collie community, and our host landowners Florian Popp and Susanne von Münchhausen. And we are thankful for the close cooperation with Western Power, enabling us to connect and start operating the battery in record-time ! 🤝   There is a lot more to say, but maybe we'll save some for our 341 MW / 1,363 MWh Stage 2 of Collie Battery, currently under construction & expected to come online next year! 😉

We're seeking submissions from potential NCESS providers to deliver network support services at up to five metropolitan locations. Five distribution feeders have been selected based on our assessment of their underlying needs, technical requirements, and the potential for a viable non-network solution. We're proud of our FY24 achievements and are excited to share our many success stories in our Annual Report. It was a massive year for us as we continue to build, maintain and transition the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) to net-zero. Some highlights include: 🚧 $1 billion invested in network upgrades and maintenance. 🏡 3,286 customers converted to underground power and four projects completed. 🦺 150,000 poles and 5,700 insulators inspected in high and extreme fire risk zones. ☀️ 37% total energy generation coming from renewables. You can view and download the full report from our website here: https://bit.ly/4dQbIWU A big thank you to our people and energy partners who've been an essential part of our many milestones and who continue to work together towards a cleaner energy future for WA.

Last week, we joined the conversation on WA’s clean energy future at a special event hosted by the Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA). Our own experts, Engineers Sabina Roshan Fernando, Peter Martino and Head of Distribution Energy Transition Andrew Blaver shared their forward-thinking insights alongside some of the state’s most influential energy leaders. "It was a great forum to discuss future energy opportunities and challenges," says Sabina. "We delved into how we can ensure grid stability and resilience while finding innovative solutions for securing reliable energy with renewables." We're excited to participate in these discussions as we work together to power a cleaner energy future for our state.

👋 Say hello to the future innovators of engineering in energy!   Last week, we hosted 20 students from Curtin University on a guided tour of our Southern Terminal to give them some first-hand insights into network operations.   Guided by Carla Basden, Julian Orozco, Michael Lam and Ashley Groeneweg, who shared their career journeys along the way, the students learnt about a range of topics, including asset management, engineering and design, and our customer decarbonisation goals.   Many thanks to IEEE Curtin University Student Branch and to each student for your enthusiasm on the day.   To find out more about our opportunities for students and graduates, click here: https://bit.ly/47hKCFG   #students #graduates #engineering #engineeringinenergy

In the lead up to yesterday's R U OK? Day, our people have been coming together in more than 40 mental health and wellbeing sessions across our office and depot locations as part of our commitment to psychosocial safety. Organised by our Health team in partnership with HelpingMinds, the sessions give an insight into the signs and symptoms of mental illness and how to support loved ones and colleagues during tough times. "Fostering how we care for one another and how our business cares for its people are of the utmost importance, whether it be physical or psychosocial safety," says our CEO Sam Barbaro. “As part of this commitment, we have a range of resources and protections in place to support our people, including mental health first aiders across the business, a critical incident response process to support teams who respond to serious injury and fatalities, and robust assessments for high-risk cohorts to understand psychosocial hazards and to implement controls.” "This year, we have more R U OK? sessions than ever before. I feel proud to see the growing participation across the business and the importance teams place on supporting each other." With further sessions planned for the coming weeks, we thank everyone who has been willing to participate so far and for supporting the organisation's efforts to create a safe and caring workplace culture. #RUOKDay #RUOK #mentalhealth #pyschosocialsafety
