About us
We are one of the fastest-growing eCommerce businesses in Australia (and now the US and UK too!). More than that, we’re one of the country’s fastest-growing social businesses. Who Gives a Crap sells beautiful, forest friendly toilet paper, paper towels and tissues and we donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for those in need. As much as we love toilet paper, the reason we’re in business is the impact we’re having on the world—To date, Who Gives A Crap has donated over $8 million Aussie dollars to our charity partners, WaterAid, Sanergy, Lwala Community Alliance and Shining Hope For Communities, iDE and WaterSHED. The more innovative the solutions our partners can unlock, the quicker we can help build toilets for the 2 billion people who don’t have them. We have a fully distributed business with all team members working remotely (i.e. from home or a co-working space) most of the time. We currently operate in six time zones with team members across four continents... and we’re just getting started. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences is what makes a strong team. The stronger our team, the closer we are to our mission – toilets and clean water for all. So come join us! We're looking for people of all genders, races, ethnicities, orientations, abilities and disabilities to come sit at our table. The only thing we're a stickler on is species – you have to be a person.

"What's a toilet paper brand doing at SXSW?" is something we've been asked multiple times this week. But innovating and thinking outside the box has always been a big focus of ours. Or as we put it to the people of SXSW Sydney - dreaming big and farting loud. We're asking people who come by our activation to sit on the hot seat and tell us the innovation the world really needs. Apparently people have a lot of fart-related feelings… scientists, technology folks, hope you’re listening. Only one more day to come visit us at #SXSW and pick up a free loo roll, plus enter our dreamy bathroom giveaway. And if you'll indulge us, let us talk to you about the space for innovation in the toilet paper - and broader personal goods - industries.

Rolling into the weekend wondering how toilet paper (and me in a robe) could ever be front page news. Press like this helps Who Gives A Crap get the word out about our mission to give everyone in the world access to clean water and sanitation. If you want to hear the Who Gives A Crap origin story, my lack of empathy, the nuances of ‘crap’, or just some tasteful toilet puns have a read. A big thanks to Jenny Valentish for taking the time to chat about all things toilet paper, and to Jo Walker and the team for making this happen. https://lnkd.in/e_NKpW58

Huge news! We've launched a new line of rubbish*, compost and dog poo bags! You could say we're really leaning into the waste business… But really, we're so excited to offer another way to make your home a bit more sustainable. Made with 100% recycled plastic (rubbish) or plant matter (compost), these bags are designed with Mama Earth in mind. See more over here: https://lnkd.in/ge6-6DCb *Garbage bags, trash bags, bin bags - whatever you want to call them. Tomato, tomato, you know?

How many toilets does it take to change a lightbulb? We’re not sure, but we’ve helped build thousands of them (loos, not light bulbs). It was pretty special to visit our impact partner Water For People with our retail partner Waitrose & Partners not too long ago, to see the work they’re doing on the ground in Malawi. Water For People aims to provide every household, school and healthcare clinic with access to WASH (aka water, sanitation and hygiene) across 9 countries. And with our support, they’ve helped supply nearly half a million people with clean water and toilets - of which more than 83,000 were in Malawi.💧 Meanwhile, working with retailers like Waitrose is a super important part of getting our loo roll into more bathrooms, and in turn, boosting the donations we can share with our amazing impact partners. As Shakespeare once said: the more you go, the more we give. (Ok he did not say this. But it’s true, trust us.) A toilet might be a given for many of us, but you can’t underestimate the impact that access to a loo - and to clean water - has on communities. The toilets shown here were photographed on our Malawi trip and decorated with reminders for their communities. The first image says, "The world is brighter with a toilet," and that’s exactly why we do what we do.

Normally we prefer number twos, but we're pretty proud of this. And also, a little fired up. We're big believers that business can be a force for good (for people and the planet) and can't help but imagine the massive global impact that would be possible if corporations donated more of their profits. Like, seriously. We haven't crunched the numbers, but 50% of profits from one of Australia's biggest conglomerates could do some serious good. So we challenge you, companies who care about the world, to knock us off the top spot next year. Forbes Australia

The hospitality industry? Oh, we’re big fans. Huge. We love seeing hotels, motels and other places to stay stocked up with our eco-friendly TP and paper towel. That’s why you’ll find us at the NoVacancy Hotel & Accommodation Industry Expo in Sydney this week. Come say hi! We’ll be at stand #1115 from September 18-19 at the ICC Sydney. And if you can’t make it along, you can always visit our wholesale portal here: https://lnkd.in/gvbJm8a6 #hospitality #procurement #hotels #sustainabilitymanager

The top 50 corporate givers in Australia contributed close to $1.5 billion to the nation’s community in 2023, thanks to large donations from companies like BHP, Coles Group, Rio Tinto and Woolworths Group. But the data also tells another story: that companies in the private sector, like Atlassian, Canva and Who Gives A Crap, are building philanthropy into their brand’s value proposition. 📌 FULL REPORT: https://lnkd.in/gDHYGWG4

They say go big or go home, and for National Toilet Paper Day, the world’s icons made the right choice 🧻🎉 That said, we’d love to go home. Because that’s where our toilet paper is, which helps us do big things. Like donate 50% of profits to help people around the world access clean water and toilets. Whenever you use our eco-friendly rolls (at home or not), you’re contributing to the cause. And that’s worthy of some big celebrations.
