Margins to the Mainstream is a unique, evidence-based project to prevent violence against women with disabilities. This impressive project was de-funded in June 2024. We, the Women's Health Services Network, are calling on the Victorian Government to reinstate Margins to the Mainstream enabling a state-wide expansion of this proven program. WHIN's recent AGM was a chance to meet, mix and reunite with WHIN members, partner organisations, supporters, current and former staff. A traditional dance by performer Alinta was followed by a showcase of the 'Taking ACtion' affirmative consent project led by Megan Elias and Banksia Gardens Community Services (more of that in a special post today). We released WHIN's mint-fresh annual report, showcasing the impact our programs are having across gender equity, gendered violence prevention, sexual and reproductive health, economic equality and more. WHIN's recent AGM was a fantastic forum to hear about the successes of 'Taking ACtion: Affirmative Consent in the North'. It's a peer-led project to build the skills and confidence of young people to talk about affirmative consent, sexual rights, pleasure and sexual violence prevention.
