Johnson & Johnson - Australia and New Zealand had the privilege of sponsoring the BusinessNZ CEO Dinner last night. This event provided an opportunity for Industry Leaders and government to share perspectives on New Zealand’s future and how we can work together to shape a better future for all. Johnson & Johnson MedTech | New Zealand’s General Manager & Country Director Amy Wilkinson had the honour of introducing Minister of Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Social Investment and Associate Minister of Climate Change Nicola Willis MP to the stage to share her outlook for New Zealand. Last night highlighted the value of collaboration and innovation in shaping our future. At J&J we believe that when we invest in our people's health we invest in our economy's future. Let’s build on the spirit of collaboration in the room last night to work together to ensure New Zealand's healthcare system is our strength for generations to come. #MedTech #InnovativeMedicine #JohnsonandJohnson #NewZealandHealth

Committed to health equity, Johnson & Johnson - Australia and New Zealand has proudly partnered with Heart of Australia and Palm Island Community Company (PICC) to fund the delivery of a second pilot cardiovascular disease screening clinic for First Nations peoples. Heart 5 was barged to Palm Island, 65km off the coast of Townsville, where close to 200 people engaged with the service, and 129 people completed the full CVD screening – a significant result for this community. A number of people at high risk who had not before seen a cardiologist now require follow up, indicating the need in community for the service. The screening process commences with a CVD risk assessment including point-of-care testing to establish HBA1C and lipids, before patients have an ECG, a focus echocardiogram, and a cardiology consult. Patients requiring further investigation are then sent for a calcium score utilising Heart 5’s battery-powered CT. Led by Deborah Guion, J&J employees Victoria Walton, Quinton Ullrich and Mitchell Spittles used their 4 days of volunteer leave to participate in the week-long clinic, and were joined by The Alfred Hospital sonographers Pagen Wettig and Jeremy Ngoh who also volunteered their time to participate. The community engagement plan included healthy BBQ lunches for 120 people each of the clinic days, as well as BBQ meat packs for every patient who completed the screening. J&J volunteers Travis Grout and Emily-Rose Green Smith Smith visited the island the week before the clinic to promote the service and conduct early point-of-care testing, visiting the council sheds and successfully engaging the local workforce. We’re very grateful to the PICC team for hosting and supporting the service delivery, the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) team for their help in community engagement, and the Palm Island community for welcoming us. #johnsonandjohnson #jnj #health #healthequity #firstnations #indigenous #cvd #firstnationshealth #indigenoushealth #communityimpact #volunteering #palmisland #picc #heartofaustralia #remotehealth

On Wednesday, the Johnson & Johnson - Australia and New Zealand team again took part in the Annual Macquarie Park Walkathon. Partnering with neighbouring businesses and colleagues, our team hit the streets on a glorious sunny morning to help raise funds for our community charity partner United Way Australia Whilst getting away from our desks and walking is a great way to drive health and wellbeing amongst our own team at Johnson & Johnson, it was even more rewarding to be able to raise thousands of dollars in the process, which helps support children in our local community to read, learn and succeed. #CommunityEngagement #ReadLearnSucceed #UnitedWayAustralia

At Johnson & Johnson, we believe closing the gap between community and care can transform health outcomes for all. We’ve partnered with Apunipima Cape York Health Council and Heart of Australia to co-design and deliver a cardiovascular disease screening clinic for remote communities. First Nations adults with no diagnosed cardiovascular disease are first screened, and those with a medium or high risk of CVD are provided full testing on board Heart of Australia’s mobile clinic. Not only are we providing early intervention and treatment for people in remote communities, we’re working to establish the burden of disease to support future health delivery. Volunteers from J&J utilised their 4 days of #volunteer leave to contribute in both clinical and non-clinical roles. Nurses, doctors and other clinical staff from J&J supported Apunipima’s Aboriginal Health Workers in screening and point-of-care testing, and the Heart of Australia team on board the truck as they performed ECGs, echocardiograms and CTs. For non-clinical volunteers, yarning with community members and serving up healthy BBQ lunches meant that the team were able to discuss healthy lifestyle factors, and help educate on the screening and testing process to remove some of the barriers community members faced in attending the clinic. For local Apunipima Health Workers, success was measured through diagnosis of CVD in even one member of community, reducing the risk of an emergency presentation. Several community members were diagnosed with significant risk, and are now being followed up with appropriate treatment plans – and while we’ve got more work to do in this community, we believe we’re creating a meaningful and impactful program. It’s all part of #JNJ's commitment to #healthequity for First Nations peoples. To celebrate Pride 2024, our employees came together this morning to recognise and celebrate the theme - Past, Present, Future - ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion remain at the forefront for J&J. Our Open&Out (O&O) employee resource group for LGBTQIA+ employees and allies has grown from 20 colleagues in 1993 to thousands of members across the globe today, helping to ensure J&J employees are empowered to bring their full selves to work. Though O&O initiatives, ongoing advocacy, and LGBTQIA+ friendly benefits, J&J stands in full support of the LGBTQIA+ community year-round. #PrideMonth
