Super proud of our Women in Manufacturing team who helped to deliver the first ever EmpowerHER Collective event this month, bringing together 70 amazing women from a variety of professions, including manufacturing, across the Greater Whitsunday region! EmpowerHER Collective events aim to create personal and professional networking and leadership development opportunities for women in the region. It was brilliant to see this first event doing just that 🎉 It wouldn’t have been possible without the teamwork that brought this dream to life – with Regional Development Australia Greater Whitsundays leading the way in collaboration with Kickass Women, The Just Saying Project, Fierce Signage and our team. Congrats to all involved, we look forward to the next event!

🎉🎉🎉HUGE NEWS! We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Australia’s biggest manufacturing event will be coming to Queensland in 2026! Our team and Queensland manufacturers have been heading south to attend the event for years, so we’re incredibly proud and honoured to be working with AMTIL to bring Australian Manufacturing Week to Brisbane and our great state for the very first time. The 2026 event will showcase more of our thriving local manufacturing sector from across the state than ever before. Thousands of delegates and more than 150 exhibitors are expected to flock to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre for the weeklong celebration. It’s another big win for the sector as we continue to prove why Queensland is the place to be for manufacturing. 📷 Queensland manufacturers and our manufacturing team at Australian Manufacturing Week 2024, earlier this year.

Happy snaps of future manufacturers getting their first taste of the industry as part of the Young Engineers Australia Queensland (YEAQ) Program in Central Queensland over the school holidays! Students in Year 3-9 participated in the program covering future industry skills including coding and STEM topics. The program develops students engineering abilities, and gives them the opportunity to immerse themselves in hands on learning using modern technologies and Lego® to solve real world problems relevant to Queensland’s manufacturing industry. Workshops were held in Cannonvale, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Tannum Sands, Bundaberg and Maryborough and supported by our Queensland Manufacturing Hubs. We’re proud to be helping shape the next generations of Queensland manufacturers.

Celebrating NAIDOC week 2024! 🔥 This year's theme is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud, which honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations communities and cultures. We are proud of our department's contributions to recognising and celebrating First Nations people and cultures across our state, whether we're engaging with traditional owners to manage water resources, connecting with the next generation of manufacturers or supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led initiatives in regional communities. Over the next few days (and beyond) we celebrate the spirit of NAIDOC week, and all we have learned and continue to learn, as we build on the collective efforts that support partnerships, knowledge sharing and mutual respect with First Nations people through our work. #NAIDOC2024
