  • The European Commission suggests to increase the 𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀 and change the 𝗦𝗠𝗘 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 verification process. The EC draft proposal suggests an increase of 19.5% in fees ECHA charges for REACH processes. However, the increases will not apply to SMEs. To enhance the efficiency of SME verification, the Commission recommended that companies apply for SME status at least six months prior to submitting a REACH application for a fee rebate. This would allow ECHA to verify their status in advance and issue the correct invoice. Additionally, the new process would facilitate mutual recognition of SME status between the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) and REACH. Don't stress out however, this change is not yet in effect! 👉 Do you need help with your REACH dossier? Feel free to reach out 😉 #REACH #ECHA #ApeironTeam #Registration

✨ Exciting News! ✨ We're thrilled to launch 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗥, a new #HorizonEU project aimed at creating safe and sustainable aromatic compounds for everyday products like surfactants, flame retardants, and can coatings. By developing new value chains starting from biomass and leveraging cutting-edge methods for hazard and sustainability assessments, RADAR will provide safer, eco-friendly alternatives for current substances of concern. This all following the European Safe and Sustainable by Design approach (#SSbD), presented by #JRC. Our consortium of 18 partners, including top industry players and knowledge institutions, is committed to innovation and sustainability. • The new classes for Endocrine Disruptors (ED) were further integrated into the framework of the CLP, in November 2024. For 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 !!) on the market, the new rules apply from 𝟭 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. For substances (and volume) that is/was placed on the EU market before 1st of May 2025, the new classification rules may be applied 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 and will only become 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. These timings ensure a phased implementation, giving companies time to comply with the updated requirements. Apeiron can help you to be prepared for the entry into force of the requirements. It’s with great passion that we help society in the search for 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 and 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲s. Then it is worth the 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. It's a balancing act. When is substitution safer, more sustainable and suitable, and, when is it 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (not ready), or even 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 (negative for society)? This is nicely demonstrated in the following two recent articles (2024-2025) on hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI): (1) On the risk of Cr(VI) among workers with long-term, low-level exposure, the authors conclude “The absence of a dose-response relationship with cumulative exposure suggests that elevated cancer risks are primarily smoking-related in this cohort, and possibly as a consequence, any increased risk associated with CrVI exposure is not observable.” https://lnkd.in/eqZKtdUE (2) On the technical readiness of a Cr(VI) alternative: corroding Olympic medals, https://lnkd.in/eunn6HSA #sustainability #substitution #safer #safeandsustainablebydesign #SSbD #authorisation #restriction #REACH #chromium
