The prevalent claim that large-scale #poultry farming inevitably harms the environment and releases excessive waste is a misconception. In reality, it is possible to operate poultry farms in an environmentally #sustainable manner and full compliance with regulations—an objective that European poultry farmers persistently strive to achieve. https://lnkd.in/etUdYWzW

  • Last week, AVEC alongside several other organisations representing sensitive EU sectors (cereals, maize, sugar, eggs, ethanol, honey), met with European Commission Executive VP Maroš Šefčovič to discuss pressing trade issues. 🔑 Key focus: The ongoing trade dynamics with Ukraine and their effects. 💡 Our message: While we stand in solidarity with Ukraine, fair competition and a careful, balanced approach to Ukraine’s trade liberalisation is necessary to ensure that EU producers are not disadvantaged. 🙏 We would like to thank EVP Maroš Šefčovič and his team for the constructive exchange and look forward to continued dialogue towards outcomes that reflect the realities of European markets and its producers. 🆕 Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming MEP Eric Sargiacomo and his team for an immersive visit in the region of Landes organised by AVEC EU Poultry, ELPHA, EPB together with French members SNA and FIA. A key opportunity to showcase the entire poultry production chain, from genetic selection to transport and processing, and discuss challenges and realities with experts from the French Poultry sector! 🧑🌾🐔 🚛 🔹 At Sabres, we explored the work of SASSO Traditional Poultry (Hendrix Genetics group), a leader in traditional poultry breeding. 🔹 At Agro Landes in Haut-Mauco, discussions with SASSO Traditional Poultry, Grimaud Frères (a duck, geese and pigeon breeding company), SOCAVIC hatchery, Sud-Ouest Accouvage focused on selection, breeding, and the critical role of transport in animal welfare. 🐤 A chick transport truck 🚛 demonstration provided a hands-on look at the sector’s high standards. 🔹 At Saint-Sever, we visited the Slaugherhouse of FERMIERS DU SUD-OUEST, where we exchanged views on the future of the processing sector and market challenges. 📢 Key takeaways? ✅ The importance of safeguarding poultry production in France and the EU. ✅ Transport regulations must be pragmatic, balancing animal welfare with production and economic realities. ✅ Trade policies must ensure reciprocity, preventing unfair competition from third-country imports. 🙏 Thank you to MEP Eric Sargiacomo and all participants for coming and listening to us. 🔎 Let’s work together with policymakers to ensure that regulations reflect the realities on the ground! #EUPoultry

  • ✍ The challenges faced by Unilever’s plant-based division and their competitors, as highlighted in the article below, confirm an important reality: Despite significant investments in alternative proteins, consumer demand remains steady for traditional meat products, preferring the original over ultra-processed copies. 💡 Instead of promoting alternatives to meat, policymakers should support our sector in making meat production even more sustainable. 🔎 It’s time to recognise that sustainable food systems include meat, and that the best way forward is to empower and support meat producers through science and sustainability driven improvements, to cope with and deliver the additional demand of foreseen in the years to come. https://lnkd.in/eyGJ-rZz
