Most of the cement manufacturing CO2 emissions originate from the #clinker production. That's why, to significantly cut CO2 emissions by 2050, access to alternative raw materials is essential. We're projecting a substantial decrease in emissions 📉, 3.5% reduction by 2030, 8% by 2050, through increased use of these materials. #CCUS technologies are transforming our industry and revolutionising how we cut our CO2 emissions. By 2030, we envision to store up to 12 million tonnes of CO2 annually and 62 million tonnes by 2050. 🔔 Policy conditions we need: 🔸Champion #CCU for its circular benefits in tough sectors like chemicals and transport 🔸Support the use of CCU in sectors with hard-to-avoid emissions beyond 2050 🔸Clearly distinguish "fossil" CO2 from unavoidable industrial emissions 🔸Assess and plan for future CO2 needs across applications 🔸Establish firm regulations for CCU, ensuring emissions are accounted at release 🔸Recognise CO2 mineralisation as a legitimate CO2 sink, enhancing economic and environmental gains ➡️ Learn more and see our roadmap for cutting-edge projects: https://lnkd.in/dpe97puD #Cement2050

The European cement sector is reducing its CO2 emissions by incorporating #alternativefuels derived from various waste streams. By 2021, these fuels accounted for 53% of our total fuel mix, marking a significant stride in our sustainability efforts. 🎯 Future projections in our roadmap: Aim for 60% alternative fuels, including 30% bio-waste by 2030 Elevate to 95% alternative fuels, with 50% bio-waste by 2050 To meet these ambitions, we need policies that: 🔹Secure long-term access to zero-rated sustainable bio-waste 🔹Acknowledge the comprehensive benefits of co-processing for material recycling and energy recovery 🔹Include co-processed materials in national recycling achievements as per the Waste Framework Directive Learn more about our vision: https://lnkd.in/dpe97puD & check out real-world applications: https://lnkd.in/eCedV73B #Cement2050 #WasteToWorth
