The Future of Product Certification: Digital Product Conformity Certificate Exchange 🌐 As the world moves towards digital trade, ensuring product conformity is more important than ever. The recent publication of the Business Requirement Specification (BRS) by the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) marks a major step forward in the digital exchange of product certification and conformity information. This framework will allow participants in the supply chain to access reliable conformity data, enhancing trust in product claims—especially those around sustainability. It also supports key initiatives like digital trade single windows and digital product passports, providing a streamlined, transparent process. As Jeff Ruddle, UKAS Strategic Director and part of the international working group behind the BRS, highlights, this project will ensure: Product claims can withstand regulatory scrutiny. Suppliers can benefit from price premiums based on sustainability. It was a pleasure to meet so many bright and passionate people talking about improving the performance of Transport and Logistics during the #DTLF (Digital Transport and Logistics Forum) meeting last week. Wouts post in the Dutch language is very much to the point (well worth using a translator). However, the #DTLF remit #goes #well #beyond the #eFTI regulation and how it may be enabled/facilitated by the establishment of the eFTI network for the on-demand exchange of the compliance information required under the eFTI regulations in a Business-to-Government context The ultimate goal is to improve the #exchange of #information #among #ALL #stakeholders involved in T&L in order to substantially #improve the #performance of #TransportAndLogistics and boost the competitiveness of the European economy. Because T&L is a global activity, improvements achieved in T&L in the EU are very likely to have a positive knock-on effect also well beyond the boundaries of the EU. I am looking forward to adding my contributions to this journey. Collaboration, system updates, and a neutral catalyst are critical for the success of the adoption of digital documents in transport and trade. The one-million-dollar question is which independent organisation can take the lead to make the digitalisation of documents happen and create economic, symbolic, and environmental capital at global scale. This is the key message in the newly released Port Technology International - PTI article on ”How to accelerate the adoption of digital documents in transport and trade” by Wolfgang Lehmacher and Mikael Lind The time may also have come to tie together the pieces and efforts and contemplate a global transport and trade e-document initiative across borders, modes, and jurisdictions; realising such an ambition requires that candidates for the leadership role have the proper governance, credibility, and subject matter resources. 🤝eFTI4EU: Benefitting #businesses in #logistics #DidYouKnow? Unlocking the potential of mobility #data and supporting the #digital and #green transformation relies on a combination of EU policies and initiatives, including the eFTI regulation. The eFTI4EU project is a key player in this effort, primarily focusing on the authorities' aspect of the #eFTI exchange environment as outlined in Regulation EU 2020/1056. As part of the project, the eFTI Gate will be developed and implemented. It is a vital component of the electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) system. Beyond specifying the requirements, #eFTI4EU is actively developing the eFTI data exchange infrastructure, paving the way for a more efficient and sustainable future in freight transport.   Through proactive communication and dissemination activities, eFTI4EU raises awareness of the benefits of eFTI adoption and provides essential support for implementation.
