The European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI) is an international non-profit association registered under Belgian Law that was founded in April 2003. It is the first attempt to unite the forces of the foremost multimodal transport research centres across Europe and to thereby promote the excellence of European transport research. Today, it includes 31 major transport research institutes or universities from 21 European countries. Together, they account for more than 4,000 European scientific and research staff in the field of transport. ECTRI as the leading European research association for sustainable and multimodal mobility is committed to provide the scientifically based competence, knowledge and advice to move towards a green, safe, efficient, and inclusive transport for people and goods. She delved into the need of the aviation sector to undergo very significant reductions in order to reach global net zero GHG emissions. Related aspects explored included diminishing air transport traffic, improving energy efficiency, and replacing fossil jet fuel by energy carriers with lower life cycle GHG emissions. Hosted by DG MOVE, the event brings together experts from various transport and logistics communities to support the European Commission in promoting the #digitaltransformation of the transport and logistics sector. Discussions included the DTLF's five-year agenda and crucial focus areas like ongoing implementation of the #eFTIRegulation.

    🖥 Exploring Innovative Traffic Solutions: Insights from ECTRI TG Traffic Management & Modelling Webinar On October 10, the ECTRI Thematic Group on Traffic Management & Modelling hosted an enlightening webinar featuring cutting-edge research and solutions in the field of traffic management. The webinar included three fascinating presentations: 🔶 “Computer-optimized Design for Transport Network Management” by Arka Ghosh from University of Deusto, exploring innovative approaches to optimizing transport network design using computational methods. 🔶 “Traffic Modelling in Data-Scarce Settings” by Benjamin Kokoll from AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, showcasing how to potentially create accurate models when data is limited. 🔶 “A Multi-Phase Deep Learning Methodology for Short Term Flow Prediction” by Panagiotis Karetsos from Hellenic Institute of Transport, presents an advanced deep learning approach for predicting short-term traffic flow which could enhance enhance real-time traffic management systems. Over the past seven decades and as the only research organisation under the remit of the Czech Department for Transport, CDV has played a crucial role in advancing multidisciplinary research, and delivering safe, modern, and sustainable transport solutions that benefit the whole society. CDV replies the key needs of transport development in the Czech Republic, on country-wide, regional and local levels. It covers a wide range of disciplines, from road traffic safety, transport infrastructure to environmental impact assessment, transport economics, multimodal transport, traffic psychology, education and also smart mobility and new technologies. As one of ECTRI’s founding members, we are proud and grateful for CDV’s contributions. Their dedication and expertise have led to pioneering projects, methodologies, patents, and publications — all of which have helped shape transport developments.
