Can the 🆕 European Commission keep up with #electricity demand? ⚡ In 1⃣0⃣0⃣ days, electricity travels at roughly 270,000 km/s depending on the conductor, and a total distance of 2,246,400,000 km, which is the equivalent of: 🌍 56,050 trips around the Earth’s circumference. 🌑 2,921 round trips from the Earth to the Moon. ☀ 7.5 roundtrips from the Earth to the sun! Eurelectric's President and CEO of E.ON, Leo Birnbaum has crunched the numbers on the forecasted rate of #electrification until 2030, and the results are eye-opening:   💡 To keep up with the surge of new #electric solutions requesting grid connections, for E.ON one connection needs to be made every seven seconds of the working day from now until 2030 in Germany alone.   In just 100 days, that's roughly 294,000 connections. This technology ensures that the continued #electrification of the transport sector is smarter, more efficient, and faster. The world is moving into the #electricity era! 🌎 ⚡ The International Energy Agency (IEA)’s new World Energy Outlook 2024, shows how global electricity growth is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, with electricity recently growing 2x faster than total energy demand from 2010-2023. 📈 From now to 2035, electricity growth will be 6x as fast, with #solar☀ and #wind overtaking power generation from coal by 2035. #Electrification must power the Clean Industrial Deal! ⚡ 📢 We've just published a 🆕 position paper, outlining our recommendations on how the Clean Industrial Deal should incorporate electrification's essential role in decarbonising industry, creating a competitive and strong industrial base in Europe. Electrification improves the EU’s resilience, and unlocks #flexibility and cost savings. Therefore, we're calling on the European Commission and Member States, to: 🔌 Introduce a national smart electrification indicator for industry. 💶 Provide adequate financial support for the deployment of electric equipment, electric heating, and cooling technologies. 🤝 Ensure fair tax policies to enhance industrial competitiveness. ⏰ Guarantee timely grid access for electrified industrial processes. 🤸♀️ Address barriers to unlocking flexibility in the industry. 👷♀️ Facilitate a skilled workforce.
