⏳ On 8 February, the Baltic states will disconnect from the Russian-led IPS/UPS to connect to integrate their electricity grids with the Continental Europe network (CEN)! It’s time to #electrify transport ⚡ The new European Commission has pledged to make a legislative proposal for clean corporate vehicle fleets.👏 ❓ Why is this good news? About 60% of new cars in the EU are corporate. They drive on average twice as much as private vehicles. ✅ Electrifying them will boost demand for electric vehicles (#EVs) across the continent and reduce transport emissions. ✅ As these vehicles are typically sold after 3-4 years, it will also accelerate the EV uptake in the used cars market. We are calling on the Commission to propose this legislation in 2025 to accelerate the #electrification of vehicles! This is why we also urge the European Commission to publish its Electrification Action Plan. Charging at home is the most convenient and affordable way to charge an electric car (#EV), but obstacles still stand in the way for people living in apartment buildings. 1️⃣ Installing chargers in apartment buildings remains too expensive, which can deter drivers from switching to an EV in the first place. 2️⃣ Many EV drivers are faced with a lengthy admin process to get installation approval.  3️⃣ Often, the electricity systems in residential buildings lack capacity to manage the additional loads from #EVcharging.  4️⃣ The issue of cost is made worse by the fact that most buildings are not pre-cabled for EV charging.  5️⃣ Most chargers are not setup for #BidirectionalCharging, which can help EV drivers reduce their electricity bill by selling stored energy back into the grid. It is crucial that the European Commission and EU governments address the persistent hurdles to installing chargers in shared buildings.
