  • 🎉 Great news: Andium Homes, from the Island of Jersey, is now a member of Eurhonet. We spoke to Lindsay Wood FCA, Chief Finance and Operations Officer, to find out more about our first member from the Channel Islands: 💡"Social housing is ultimately about helping people. Everyone instinctively knows how important a home is – social housing is about improving people’s lives by providing good quality homes and security of tenure." 💡"In Jersey, we are the largest landlord and developer, and so I am motivated to help our beautiful Island support a vibrant community, where people have somewhere they want to live that they can afford. (...) I am particularly motivated to provide opportunities that encourage young people to stay on the Island." 💡"We are very excited to learn more about other jurisdictions and to share some of the interesting things we are doing here in Jersey. Something that really appealed to us at Eurhonet was that colleagues at all levels can benefit from the network, including the Exchange Programme." We are really looking forward to sharing knowledge and examining best practices with all the colleagues from Andium Homes! Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/eH9FzDF3 Zoe Hibbs

🏛️ A new one-stop-shop housing portal, set up by the European Investment Bank (EIB), will help local authorities access advice and finance to build more affordable homes, renovate existing housing stock, and improve energy efficiency. 💶 Cities face significant challenges navigating the complex landscape of EU funding and EIB loans. Local governments often encounter bureaucratic hurdles, a lack of capacity, and insufficient expertise in securing the necessary financial support for housing projects. 🏠 €10 billion earmarked for investments over the next two years, will support cities to boost the supply of affordable, sustainable, and inclusive housing for residents across Europe. 🏙️ Barcelona’s Mayor Jaume Collboni, who participated in the forum, highlighted the crucial role of cities in addressing housing affordability and strengthening partnerships for effective solutions. ➡️ Check out our latest policy briefing 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d-PBKczb Nadia Calviño, Matthew Baldwin, Irene Tinagli, Yannis Tsakiris #AffordableHousing #HousingForAll #MayorsForHousing

  • Yesterday, we were pleased to attend a public debate in the European Parliament on affordable housing. The event was organised by the European Parliament and European Commission and addressed the housing crisis in the EU. It examined: - how various stakeholders should work together to tackle the housing crisis; - the key areas that need to be prioritised at EU level; - best practices that we can learn from. In particular, we were pleased to hear from panellist Bent Madsen, President of our partner organisation Housing Europe, who highlighted the needs of the public, social, and cooperative housing sector to EU delegates. Housing Europe is our sector’s representative body at EU and international levels.

  • 🎉 Our Annual Report 2024 is out now! An important moment to look back, be proud about everything we achieved together last year, and reflect on our priorities for the future. ➡️ Download it here: https://lnkd.in/eEqTSxPE 💡 Fredrik Törnqvist (President of Eurhonet, 2021-2024): "2024 was a year of energy and enthusiasm for Eurhonet. Together, we strengthened our network, expanded opportunities for professional development, and shared countless experiences. I would like to thank all Eurhonet members for your commitment, trust, and collective spirit over the last three years. Together, we set Eurhonet on an ambitious path for the future." 💡Marco Corradi (President of Eurhonet, 2024-2027): "Housing is an increasingly critical issue for European citizens. The gap between family income and housing costs continues to widen, and the realities of climate change demand urgent action to provide sustainable, affordable homes. Demographic changes produce social challenges that require thoughtful and innovative responses. As public and social housing providers, our core mission remains unchanged: caring not only for the buildings we manage but for all the people and communities who live in them." 👏 Thank you to all our members for making 2024 such a successful year for Eurhonet. It is because of your commitment to sharing knowledge and continuously improving that all these achievements were possible.

Just had an exciting experience of using the Yin-Yang perspective to discuss how to create social value for social integration. Together with a group of passionate public housing company managers at @Eurhonet, we examined three intriguing paradox pairs: • Diversity vs. Unity • Risk vs. Opportunity • Recognition vs. Assimilation These examples vividly illustrate the core principles of Yin-Yang—interdependent opposition, mutual transformation, and dynamic balance. I believe that embracing this Eastern philosophical approach can provide fresh insights into addressing some of the Western societal challenges we face today. Great thanks to Dragana Curovic for your invitation! #YinYang #WestmeetsEast #SocialValue #SocialIntegration #EasternPhilosophy #PublicHousing #Eurhonet #Diversity #Unity #Risk #Opportunity

  • 🎉 A huge welcome to our first Eurhonet member from Spain: OAL Viviendas Municipales de Bilbao. We are looking forward to learning more about the work of our colleagues in Bilbao, and we are certain that this addition to our membership will bring new perspectives and opportunities to share skills and best practice. 🏘️ OAL Viviendas Municipales de Bilbao was the first public housing company set up in Spain. Bilbao currently has the highest ratio of social and affordable housing per inhabitant in Spain. 💬 To find out more, we spoke to Chairperson Yolanda Díez Saiz: "Access to decent, affordable housing is a priority for the sustainable development of Bilbao. My role is exciting because it allows me to work directly on improving the living conditions of many people and on building a more equitable and cohesive city. We wanted to join Eurhonet because of the European dimension of the network, its clearly local character, and the high level of specialisation." • We had a very productive Council of Administration meeting in Paris this week. It is so important to get feedback and updates in order to shape our work programme to the needs and priorities of our members. We have a lot of exciting activities coming up – so stay tuned! We were kindly hosted by DELPHIS. Charlotte Limousin presented how the French social housing system is organised, focusing in on the major challenges currently faced by providers. Charlotte also introduced us to the findings of a recent DELPHIS study on new services for tenants. This sparked plenty of discussions and inspiration to take back to our own organisations. Thank you to our Council of Administration for your commitment, engagement, and openness to new ideas. Now, we look forward to putting our decisions into action!
