🌍🚶🚴 Ahead of COP29, The Partnership for Active Travel and Health (PATH) has released an open letter urging governments to include walking and cycling in their climate commitments. Active travel can halve transport emissions by 2030—yet it's often overlooked in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). We're calling on all non-profits to join us in signing this letter to amplify our collective voice for active mobility. 🔗 Sign our letter and show your support: https://lnkd.in/e2ffywTx FIA Foundation Walk21 Foundation UN Environment Programme

🚴♀️🌟 The EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference wrapped up this week in Viborg, Denmark! With around 150 participants from 24 countries, the event explored the legacy of large events and locals' engagement on cycling culture and practice. Here's a quick recap: 💡 On Monday, Jens Erik Larsen kicked things off by taking us back to the origins of EuroVelo in 1990s Denmark, followed by insights from Marie Kåstrup and Henna Palosaari on the Nordic cycling culture. 💡 Tuesday was action-packed with two plenary sessions and six parallel sessions! The first plenary focused on the European Declaration on Cycling and the recent appointment of a European Commissioner on Sustainable Transport and Tourism. These crucial EU-level developments highlight the importance of cycling tourism and support advocacy for stronger national cycling strategies. 🌍 💡 The second plenary showcased how large events, like the Tour de France Grand Depart in Copenhagen and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, spark local interest in cycling and boost cities' infrastructure for cycling and intermodality. 🏅 💡 There was plenty more to learn, from using geographical data for cycle route planning to tailoring cycling experiences to various cycling tourists. A mountain bike visit and a tour along the beautiful lakes and fortresses topped off the event on Wednesday, leaving us eager for #morecycling despite the typically unpredictable Danish weather. 🚲🌦 📍 Next year, the EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference will take place in Balatonfüred, Hungary, from 24 to 26 September 2025. Save the date! Read more about the conference highlights 👉 https://lnkd.in/evT9aDGx
