Repowering isn’t just about renewables - thermal power plants are also part of the shift towards cleaner, more efficient energy. 🎧 NEW: Some of the best spots to generate clean energy are already occupied, often with old, inefficient technology that has been in place for decades. That is why wind farm developers are looking to #repower those facilities with new kit, massively increasing their output in the process. It's an attractive option: permitting is smoother, there's already a grid connection in place and the site has a proven track record of power generation. Repowering isn't just about wind though. 🧩P̳u̳z̳z̳l̳e̳ ̳f̳a̳n̳s̳,̳ ̳h̳e̳r̳e̳’̳s̳ ̳a̳ ̳c̳h̳a̳l̳l̳e̳n̳g̳e̳: Key pieces are missing from the secondary legislation tackling the components of NZIA technologies. Yet, those are important pieces of the net-zero puzzle, as gaps could slow down Europe’s energy transition and undermine EU’s clean tech leadership. So why keep them out? Some hint from our side, as an example: ➡️ CO₂ Compressors - CO2 Compressors are eligible to be added under CCUS, and Energy Storage Technologies because: (a) CO2, H2, and Natural Gas compressors are not interchangeable, it means that CO2 compressors are as exclusive as H2 compressors; (b) CO2 Compressors have additional potential in energy storage in the Compressed-carbon storage. 💡 Share your thoughts - other examples from your side? #NZIA
