💡 #Energy is responsible for the majority of climate change-causing greenhouse gas emissions, mostly from the burning of #fossilfuels. Despite efforts to reduce these emissions, the trajectory of CO2 #emissions globally remains far higher than what is needed to avoid the worst effects of climate change. 💡 Note that numbers shown below refer to #CO2 emissions from fuel combustion in the energy sector. They do not include other important sources of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions such as methane leaks from oil and gas operations, which are more difficult to measure. 👉 The #GreenhouseGasEmissions from #EnergyDataExplorer has more complete estimates for most countries and regions. #IFMAEMEA #facilitymanagement #sustainability #climate

🌱 2023 was remarkable for #Antarctic sea ice: it reached record low extents for the corresponding time of the year in 8 months. 💡 Both the daily and monthly extents reached all-time minima in February 2023 🌱 #Arctic sea ice extent at its annual peak in March ranked amongst the four lowest for the time of the year in the satellite record. 💡 The annual minimum in September was the sixth-lowest. #IFMAEMEA #climate #sustainability #facilitymanagement

🌱 Emissions must be reduced rapidly and deeply; #CDR can only complement this effort, not replace it. 🌱 Both new (often engineered) and more traditional (often forest-based) types of #CDR need to be scaled up. 🌱 Robust monitoring, reporting and verifying is critical for the success of further CDR deployment. 🌱 The different time frames and types of CDR must be aligned with the specific type of emissions they are supposed to neutralise (a “like-for-like” approach). 🌱 New, multi-level governance and policy instruments are required to support CDR innovation. 🌱 Discover the latest climate research here: https://lnkd.in/eCMrVGrJ #IFMAEMEA #sustainability #facilitymanagement #climate #science
