Calling all IGLYO Members! 📣 It’s time again for our flagship event, you know it and you love it: Registration for our IGLYO Annual Members’ Conference 2024 is now officially open! 💜 Since 1984, IGLYO has been at the heart of the queer youth movement in Europe, and it’s now time to celebrate our achievements at our IGLYO 40th Anniversary AMC in the beautiful city of Ljubljana, Slovenia. This AMC is one not to be missed with a unique exhibition of our archives, reflection on 40 years of our movement, and many more celebrations. 🎉🎂 And we’re not the only ones turning 40 this year: the local queer community in Slovenia will be celebrating 40 years of their movement too. To mark the occasion, we’re happy to host the AMC with not one, not two, but five local IGLYO Member Organisation: ŠKUC Magnus, DIH, Moja Mavrica, TransAkcija, and Društvo informacijski center Legebitra. It's going to be a big queer 40th birthday bash and we’re looking forward to seeing you there! 🤩 🔗 Are you ready to celebrate 40 years of queer youth activism with us? At this year’s 40th Anniversary Annual Members’ Conference, we did not only look at the past, but we also looked into the future. 🔮 Our Members collaboratively worked on a strategic plan for the next 5 years at IGLYO based on their local and international needs, imagining their ideal vision of what the network will look like in 2030. We cannot wait to translate their hopes and expectations into a solid strategic plan that will make our international family more united than ever in advocating for the liberation and freedom of queer young people! 💜 — 📸 Photos by the amazing Katarina Kolenc #lesbian #gay #bi #trans #queer #intersex #youth #allies #LGBTQI #IGLYOAMC24 #exhibition #opening

The Grand Opening of our 40th Anniversary Exhibition in the City Hall of Ljubljana brought together the participants of our #IGLYOAMC24, IGLYO Alumni from the past 40 years, our local hosts and Members, as well as many local guests and friends. 🖼️ Through unique archive materials digitised from the IGLYO collection at IHLIA LGBTI Heritage in Amsterdam or collected from IGLYO Alumni involved in the network at some point in the past forty years, the “IGLYO 40th Anniversary Exhibition: 40 Years of Queer Youth Voices exhibition” retraces IGLYO’s history from an informal international queer youth gathering to the well-established organisation it has become today. 🗃️ A massive thank you to everyone who made this exhibition possible, and in particular to the Irish Embassador to Slovenia Adrian Farrell and the Irish Embassy for sponsoring this beautiful evening, to the Municipality of Ljubljana and the Department for Culture for landing us this beautiful space for free, to Vice-President of the General Assembly and long-time lesbian activist Nataša Sukič for her powerful speech, and to the Crystal Queer Choir for their incredible performances throughout the opening. If you’re in Ljubljana, the exhibition remains available until 3 November in Desni atrij in Ljubljana’s City Hall (free entrance). Go check it out! 💜 — 📸 Photos by the amazing Katarina Kolenc #lesbian #gay #bi #trans #queer #intersex #youth #allies #LGBTQI #IGLYOAMC24 #exhibition #opening

Our ED Bella attending the ILGA-Europe conference in Bucharest where she ran a workshop on meaningful youth engagement, which is more important than ever in the LGBTQI rights movement. 🙌 The conference was a chance to meet with IGLYO Members such as Arcigay and ACT - Against Conversion Therapy few days before our own members’ conference starting this Thursday in Ljubljana. Thanks a lot for having us! 💜 PS: Who else is living for that suit? 🫦 #IEBucharest2024 #LGBTQI #conference

Don’t miss our next IGLYO #webinars! 🖥️💜 This fall, we have not one but two free online sessions on burning topics for LGBTQI youth that will involve speakers from in and out our membership: ✨ LGBTQI Refugees and Asylum Seekers | 7 November at 12:30-14:00 CET This IGLYO webinar will look into the reality of being an LGBTQI refugee or asylum seeker in Europe. The speakers will bring in their expertise and their lived experience to provide an overview of the reality of being an LGBTQI refugee or asylum seeker in Europe today, as well as to showcase and highlight some good practices in terms of inclusivity, highlighting what LGBTQI organisations can do to support queer refugees and asylum seekers in their respective regions. ✨ IGLYO Webinar on Asexual & Aromantic Visibility in LGBTQI Activism | 13 November at 12:30-14:00 CET This IGLYO webinar will focus on the realities of asexual and aromantic identities within the LGBTQI community. We’re back from an incredible time in Berlin, where ORAM - Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration hosted a gathering to support LGBTQI asylum seekers across Europe, and we were so happy to be a part of it. 💜 Our Policy Officer, Ahmed, was there, making sure that LGBTQI youth had a real voice in the conversation. A huge thank you to ORAM for their ongoing efforts to help LGBTQI refugees find housing, jobs, and a sense of belonging as they rebuild their lives. We see the difference your support makes every day. We were also moved by our member organisation, the Afghanistan LGBTIQ+ Organization (ALO)+, who brought to light the experiences of Afghan refugees —stories that are often overlooked. Their honesty in sharing what it’s like to start over in Europe, while carrying the weight of displacement and trauma, is a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Following the conference, Ahmed wrote: “It’s crucial that the challenges young asylum seekers face stay at the heart of these discussions. Being young, racialised, and LGBTQI often means navigating extra hurdles, from discrimination to simply finding a place to feel safe and call home. These young queer people have already carried so much. Let’s give them a chance to start over, with a little less weight on their shoulders.” 💜 #lesbian #gay #bi #trans #queer #intersex #youth #LGBTQI #network
