What is most important: genetics, physical, or mental capacity? Some 80-year-olds have physical and mental capacities similar to many 20-year-olds, while others experience declines in physical and mental capacities at much younger ages. Although some of the variations in older people's health reflect their genetic inheritance, most are due to their physical and social environments and the influence of these on their opportunities and health behavior. Importantly, these factors start to influence ageing from childhood. Despite advancements in understanding the biology of ageing, gaps remain in identifying reliable biomarkers and effective interventions. That’s why we are bringing together global experts to focus on solutions that will counter age-related diseases and promote sustainable, nutritional strategies for healthier ageing. 🌿 Join the mission to tackle healthy ageing! 🌿 Our new Healthy Ageing Task Force is on a mission to: ✅ Provide an updated understanding of the mechanisms behind the ageing process; ✅ Explore sustainable, nutrition-based approaches to address age-related diseases; ✅ Review and develop evidence-based recommendations to slow the impact of biological ageing. Yesterday and today, we hosted a workshop where leading experts co-builded a comprehensive roadmap for the Task Force's scientific activities. Together, we addressed key areas like immunosenescence, inflammageing, the microbiota’s role in ageing, sarcopenia, and brain health. The insights gained will guide future research and interventions aimed at slowing biological ageing through nutrition and lifestyle. 📧 For more info or to get involved, contact Isabelle Guelinckx at iguelinckx@ilsieurope.be 👉 Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eZyiXMXn #HealthyAgeing #Nutrition #Research #PublicHealth #ILSI

Another productive week for ILSI Europe! Here's a quick recap: 🚀 We kicked off the week at Synergy Days in Barcelona, where our Project Managers Andrea Colafranceschi and Ruchi Shah represented the TITAN Project EU and CATALYSE Project EU. They led a roundtable on food safety and connected with key partners. Big thanks to everyone involved! 🌎 The next day in Rome, Andrea Colafranceschi participated in the World Food Forum at FAO Headquarters. We were proud to see our team member on stage, discussing innovative urban-rural solutions to address climate change. A fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of cooperation in the Water-Food-Energy Nexus. 🧑🎓 In the Netherlands, we attended Wageningen University's Career Day to connect with students interested in food science internships. We're excited about the talents we met and the potential impact they’ll bring! 📢 Back in Brussels, we ended the week by engaging in a highly dynamic workshop to reflect on our communication goals and targets. Thank you to our members who made the trip to participate, and to #pageinextremis for facilitating this important exercise. Here's to a week full of connections and exchange! #ILSIEurope #SynergyDays #WorldFoodForum #CatalyseProject #FoodSafety #Sustainability #ClimateAction #WageningenCareerDay
