While the KIKK festival typically emphasizes a forward-looking perspective, it also provides a unique opportunity to reflect on History and heritage, particularly when digital creativity is harnessed for the common good. In this context, #History and #heritage gain renewed significance within the KIKK lineup. In partnership with Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI), we were honored to commemorate the 400th anniversary of New York City at the KIKK Festival. A distinguished panel featured Peter Aigner, Director of the Gotham Center For New York City History, and Alex Wright, a senior expert in user experience with experience (UX) at Instagram, The New York Times, IBM, just to name a few. They both led a discussion on the critical role of emerging technologies in fostering more inclusive historical narratives. Joining them were Pascale Delcomminette, CEO of Wallonia Export & Investment Agency - Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) ; Anthony Simonofski from Université de Namur, an expert in smart cities and open data; and Anne-Laure CADJI from Multitel Research Center, a specialist in artificial intelligence developments in the healthcare sector. Together, they deep dived in an inspiring dialogue about the challenges historians will face in the future with Gen AI’s.
