Together with AESGP, COCIR, EAAR (European Association of Authorised Representatives), EUROM and FIDE, MedTech Europe has published a joint industry discussion paper on the Future governance of medical technologies in Europe. The joint paper makes the case for a reform on how medical technologies are governed in Europe; it proposes key guiding principles for a #PatientCentric and empowered medtech-specific single governance structure, which will ensure the availability of safe devices for patients, health professionals and health systems. The joint paper further outlines the roles and responsibilities to deliver on this goal and calls for a detailed impact assessment to define the optimal set-up once roles are clarified. About us
MedTech Europe’s mission is to make innovative medical technology available to more people, while helping healthcare systems move towards a sustainable path. MedTech Europe encourages policies that help the medical technology industry meet Europe’s growing healthcare needs and expectations. It also promotes medical technology’s value for Europe focusing on innovation and stakeholder relations, using economic research and data, communications, industry events and training sessions. MedTech Europe started as an alliance in October 2012 formed by two organisations - EDMA, representing the European in vitro diagnostic industry; and Eucomed, representing the European medical devices industry. Promoting a balanced policy environment MedTech Europe engages with EU regulators, politicians and other decision-makers to help shape policies to promote innovation for our growing healthcare needs and expectations. Demonstrating the value of medical technology MedTech Europe promotes to its members and the wider industry value-based innovations that support more sustainable healthcare systems. We use economic research to show the benefits of medical technology and we organise many initiatives to explain the value we bring to healthcare systems in Europe. We bring stakeholders together to discuss trends, issues and opportunities.

Honored to have spoken at the Women leaders in Life Sciences Law event alongside Olga Solomon and Oliver Bisazza, with the insightful moderation of Anne-Sophie Bricca. We were given the opportunity to talk about the priorities in the European Life Sciences sector: In times of geopolitical shifts, Europe must urgently move from policy promises to real action—delivering on competitiveness and simplification. Grateful for the inspiring discussions within the Sisterhood—as Dr. Dr. Galit Gonen-Cohen so aptly put it. Huge kudos to the organizers for creating a space where women can collaborate, learn, and strengthen their impact in life sciences. #WomenInLifeSciences #Leadership #LifeSciences #Competitiveness #PolicyToAction#EFPIA#WeWontRest Great to see Marie Manley, Ilja Moree, Ingrid Sollerer, Fiona Adams, Delphine Marchal, Beata Stepniewska, Lisa Dupre - LLM, CIPP/E, Koosje van Lessen Kloeke, Julia Wahl, Catherine Longeval, Arianna Greco, Laetitia Szaller, Charlotte Garrigues, Julie BONHOMME, Cristiana Spontoni, Zoe Kimberley, Malwina Mejer, Josefine Liv Sommer, Charlotte Ryckman and so many other women leaders!

Sincere appreciation to Japan's PMDA and MHLW for hosting 27th IMDRF Meeting - March 10-14, 2025 in Tokyo! It is encouraging to see continued and growing interest in global regulatory convergence of medical devices regulation with many new country representatives joining the IMDRF. A great forum with many insightful discussions and updates on country developments - e.g., Swissmedic - using an AI tool for risk-based classification of incident reports 💡 Finally, it was in a way, a historical meeting with the first meeting between IMDRF Management Committee and IMDRF Industry Group. Honoured to be a part of the IMDRF industry group representing GMTA and MedTech Europe Looking forward to what the future brings for the regulatory convergence agenda.
