⛓ On EU Anti-Trafficking Day, we would like to raise awareness of the critical link between children going missing and trafficking. Vulnerable children who go missing are at heightened risk of being targeted by traffickers. This includes children in institutional care, children on the move, children being subjected to online grooming, and those with adverse childhood experiences. ‼ While we welcome the revised Anti-Trafficking Directive, we must underscore the need for more robust child protection systems and improved cooperation across EU Member States. This includes better training and coordination among professionals who interact with children, ensuring they are able to identify and respond to signs of trafficking quickly and effectively. ➡ Prevention is paramount. By strengthening child protection frameworks, we can reduce vulnerabilities and prevent children from going missing, being groomed online, and falling prey to traffickers. #EUAntiTraffickingDay #MissingChildren

 💂♂️ We’re in London, but not to see the Big Ben   Theresa Ryan-Rouger, our Senior Project Officer & Focal Point on Child Sexual Abuse, has since yesterday been attending a technical workshop hosted by Safe Online’s Data for Change Initiative at Google’s headquarters in London.   ➡️ The workshop aims to present and discuss the results of an in-depth mapping of the online child sexual exploitation and abuse data ecosystem.   This has been an enriching learning experience, and a unique opportunity to cooperate with other organisations towards a safer online world for young people.
