SZENTKIRÁLYI MAGYARORSZÁG’s factory in Kékkút, Hungary is nestled among the striking scenery of Balaton Uplands National Park. The company works with park experts to operate in harmony with the Káli Basin’s remarkable natural treasures. In 2023, it launched a “green factory” initiative to protect biodiversity and preserve native species. Szentkirályi has partnered with a biologist to create a pond, install birdhouses and insect hotels, and plant woodland and grassland. These are now teeming with wildlife, from bats to dragonflies, helping to restore native habitats. They will catalogue and monitor the organisms, adapting the project and allocating funding to enhance the ecosystem. Szentkirályi’s vision goes beyond avoiding harm, to actively restoring and enriching the local environment. Discover our other biodiversity projects at: https://lnkd.in/eFxqTvkw

Congratulations to PETCORE EUROPE for having sustainability service provider Pilario develop an LCA solution for their members! This solution allows suppliers—such as converters, label producers, polymer producers, and recyclers—to provide granular and reliable information on the environmental footprint of their products to their clients, including mineral water companies. Intentionally, we also use Pilario to offer an LCA solution to our members, as the results of the PET producers can be used to feed the calculation of the mineral water companies. This is how decarbonisation of the supply chain can be enabled in practice. If you are a mineral or spring water company and want to calculate your product footprint using the NMWE solution, you can register for free here: https://t.ly/yH1S0
Furthering updates Monica Harting Pfeifer from REMONDIS Gruppe & Alycia Purcell from Pilario, will tell us more about their collaboration project between LCA Working group and Pilario. Details on Reuse will also be shared by Tobias Bielenstein from Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen eG (GDB) You can learn more at: ➡️https://bit.ly/4iFViE9 #PETCOREEuropeAnnualConference2025 #PETRecycling #PETPackaging #PETRecyclingInEurope #CircularEconomy #RecycledPET #DesignForRecycling #PETCollection #CircularPET #Sustainability #FullCircularity #PetPlastic

🌿🌍 Protecting biodiversity is crucial for our planet's health — and our own! The NMWE 2024-2029 Manifesto underscores the vital role of biodiversity in sustaining ecosystems that support our food systems, water purity, and climate resilience. As part of our commitments under the EU Code of Conduct, we have formed strategic partnerships to develop effective conservation strategies. EU initiatives must catalyse collaboration and equip businesses—especially SMEs—with tools to foster biodiversity. This World Wetlands Day we underscore the need for bold action to protect these natural habitats for the welfare of people and nature. Wetlands are critically important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation and adaptation, freshwater availability, and strong economies. Initiatives by NMWE members contribute to the preservation and restoration of our precious wetlands. This is part of the vision outlined in our manifesto to protect biodiversity, and our sources, for generations tome come. Learn more about our biodiversity initiatives: https://lnkd.in/eFxqTvkw

The Tournée Minerale gets 2025 off to a fresh and healthy start by celebrating a February without alcohol! The one-month challenge encourages Belgians to reflect on their alcohol consumption and embark on healthy new habits. The 9th edition of the Tournée unites individuals and organisations, with around 1.5 million people participating. Even moderate drinkers report the benefits of going alcohol-free for a month, from more energy to better concentration. So next time you’re tempted by a drink, why not enjoy a refreshing glass of natural mineral water? Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/dk-ir-5

On Monday, Cecilia Bevilacqua, our EU policy and advocacy officer, attended the public hearing titled “The Way to a European Water Resilience Strategy - An EU Blue Deal,” organized by the ENVI Committee. The debate highlighted the urgent need to tackle pressing water issues in Europe.🚨 💡Here are our main takeaways: - 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: water stress is already impacting Europe, from southern to northern regions, affecting countless citizens and crucial economic sectors. - 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: water availability isn't just a matter of climate change; aging infrastructures leading to leakages in the water supply are also a significant concern. - 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: MEPs voiced serious concerns about chemical pollutants like PFAS and other contaminants, highlighting their threats to both the environment and public health. - 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: embracing innovation and digitalization is crucial for sustainable water management and effective data gathering. It was inspiring to hear the calls for collaborative efforts made by several MEPs to address water challenges! Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) members have a long tradition of working with local stakeholders to protect the areas around the sources under their management; they are ready to step up their efforts to contribute to the availability of high-quality underground water for future generations. However, to be effective, collaborative approach and strict protection measures on the ground need to be accompanied by strong EU policy measures preventing contamination, in particular with respect to PFAS. Sound implementation of those measures across the EU is also key. We look forward to contributing to the important discussions to come! #WaterResilience #EUBlueDeal #Waterprotection

The Cheires and Caves of Volvic Nature Reserve was established on the Volvic impluvium in 2015. The contribution of 30 hectares of land by the Société des Eaux de Volvic and the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) Auvergne, which launched the creation, made this reserve possible. The LPO now oversees 60 hectares of the Regional Nature Reserve. 🦇🦇🦇 The caves of the reserve are home to many species of bats, including the greater horseshoe bat, the lesser horseshoe bat, and the greater mouse-eared bat, whose numbers are declining nationwide. In these caverns, which are a hotspot for "swarming," a phenomenon in which multiple species of bats assemble in autumn for reproduction, 50% of the bat species found in the national area have been recognised. In line with this collaboration, Volvic has made a financial and human resource commitment to the LPO to safeguard two emblematic species of the impluvium, the grey shrike and the red kite. During the prenuptial migration periods, the corporation has made a location accessible for the creation of a feeding plot for the red kite, and fifty days are allotted annually for one employee to identify, count, and monitor nesting areas.
