At this year's #ACS24Europe, organised by Google and Lee Odess, I had the privilege of participating in a panel talk with Jonathan Hays, Karsten Nölling and Claudius Moor on the Global Outlook on the Future of Access Control. The discussion highlighted several crucial insights that are shaping the future of security and operations. Here are 5 key takeaways 👇 1️⃣ Inclusive Stakeholder Engagement and Usability: One of the primary learnings was the importance of considering every stakeholder and ensuring usability for each one. Security and IT are critical, but so are the security guards, facilities teams, operations personnel, end-users, contractor administrators, etc. Each individual interacting with data or platforms plays a vital role in the ecosystem. Ensuring that these systems are user-friendly and accessible to all stakeholders enhances efficiency and effectiveness across the board. 2️⃣ Collaborative Access Flows: Access management is not solely the responsibility of the security and IT departments. Facilities, operations, compliance, safety teams, and other departments also have a significant stake in the solution. Each brings a unique perspective to the table. By leveraging diverse insights, we can create more robust, efficient and user-friendly access flows. 3️⃣ Interoperability of Platforms: For a truly effective solution, ERP, ACS, registration platforms, and other systems must work seamlessly together. All-in-one solutions are not future-proof; it's all about selecting best-of-breed platforms and ensuring they interoperate smoothly. 4️⃣ Data-Driven Improvements: Data is becoming increasingly crucial, not just at a local plant or location level, but globally.
