Did you know ❓ Advances in machine learning (ML) can transform the way we solve complex engineering challenges, from optimizing ship designs to improving renewable energy systems 🚀 💡 exaSIMPLE combines traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with novel ML techniques, specifically designed for exascale supercomputers. The study focuses on overcoming two key limitations in current CFD simulations: 1️⃣ Pressure-Correction Equation: In traditional CFD methods, solving the Poisson equation - responsible for pressure correction - can consume up to 90% of total computation time. exaSIMPLE uses ML-accelerated solvers to speed up this process, significantly reducing computational demand and enabling faster simulations. 2️⃣ Pressure-Velocity Coupling: By applying ML models, the project improves how CFD algorithms handle the relationship between pressure and velocity, reducing the number of iterations needed to achieve accurate results, thereby boosting overall efficiency.
