🚁 Another exciting development at droneport.eu! MAVLab from project partner, Delft University of Technology, during their testing campaign at Droneport located in Sint-Truiden, #Belgium, tested the re-align and repositioning feature of the Drone Cargo Port (DCP) developed by Helicus. 🚁 Exciting times in #Belgium 📍 MAVLab TU Delft from our SAFIR-Ready partner, Delft University of Technology, has been conducting a testing campaign with the Rotating Wing drone at Droneport located in Sint-Truiden, #Belgium. Here, the team tested their innovative ground-based, Tactical, Collision Detect and Avoid algorithms developed at Delft University of Technology. This algorithm uses Velocity Obstacles to construct the set of velocity vectors that would lead to a collision in the future. The novelty? geofences are treated as “virtual” Velocity Obstacles, allowing conflict resolution to take place within certain predetermined bounds! 🚫✈️ The conflict detection and resolution algorithm was implemented in Delft University of Technology’s open-source Air Traffic Simulator “BlueSky” and integrated with the Helicus Command-and-Control Center (C2C) ⚙️ 🇪🇺 The SAFIR-Ready project belongs to the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking program and is funded by the European Commission through #horizoneurope. What do #iphones and #drones have in common?  📱🚁 They both seem to be reluctant to standardize and become interoperable in common, shared, and far more effective infrastructure. Project partner SKYCORP Technologies together with partners Helicus and HyFly have been working on these systems for a while within the ecosystem to ensure different OEMs and drones can communicate, land, charge, refuel, and swap payloads and cargo – all through shared infrastructure. 🛫📦These inputs can be found from the Drone Operator Requirements Aero Initiative (DORAI). Making it all fit into the complex aviation landscape? That’s where the SESAR Joint Undertaking SAFIR-Ready project comes in with the goal of developing new services, procedures, and systems to provide mission readiness for #BVLOS operations enabled by U-space.
