We have restarted our bootcamps for new team members this year. Here’s what day 1 looked like for our second group of starters. We kicked off with a ‘Get to Know Each Other Bingo’, a fun way to connect. The new masterworkers learned about Smulders' history, mission, vision, and values. Throwback to our fantastic open day in Vlissingen on 21st September. Over 1,000 people - employees, family, and friends - joined us for an unforgettable day. We took a unique tour across, under, and over parts of a substation and bridges. There were fun activities for all ages, such as Skyview offering breathtaking views, a thrilling climbing tower for kids, and exciting demonstrations. At the end of July, GRAHAM Civil Engineering successfully closed the Renfrew Bridge for the first time! This marks a major milestone towards the completion of the bridge, which is expected in late Autumn. ✨ The northern section of the bridge, built by Smulders, set sail from Vlissingen to Renfrewshire, Glasgow in early May. Site Manager Luc shares his most memorable project experience: “From January 2021 to July 2022, we tackled a real challenge: installing 130 high-voltage pylons between Groningen and Eemshaven. Collaborating with the Smulders team and our client was fantastic. 💪 To access out-of-the-way places like farmers' fields with such heavy and large transports, we constructed temporary roads and construction sites. As some existing high-voltage lines were still operational, it was a true feat of engineering to install the pylons amidst magnetic fields surrounding the cables. Along the way, we even rescued a lost cow, earning us a fresh glass of milk! 🥛 Definitely a project to remember.” Inspired by Luc’s memorable moment?
