Exciting news! Solvay's Alpha project has been selected as one of the first 47 strategic projects under the #CriticalRawMaterialsAct by the European Commission! Led by our Peroxides team, the Alpha project aims to establish an in-house palladium (Pd) recovery and catalyst production facility at our plant in Rosignano, Italy. This initiative is a major step towards 100% circularity for palladium, a critical raw material used for the production of hydrogen peroxide. With this project, we'll not only enhance our competitiveness and operational efficiency but also contribute to the EU's goal of securing critical raw material supply chains. #CRMA #EuropeanCommission #HydrogenPeroxide

We faced record high temperatures and prolonged droughts in 2024, highlighting the critical need for water conservation. At Solvay, we're committed to reducing freshwater withdrawal in water-scarce regions. 2024 Progress Highlights: 💦STAR Factory Program: Implementing water reduction strategies at 17 facilities located in high-risk areas. 💦Innovation: Investing in technologies that significantly reduce water consumption, ensuring operational continuity and efficiency. 💦Monitoring: Weekly updates during drought crises, covering over 90% of our daily freshwater withdrawal globally. Here are some direct examples of how we are making a difference: 💧Paulinia, Brazil: A closed-loop cooling system, reducing water withdrawal by 4.2 million m³/year, enhancing water quality and equipment lifespan. 💧Qingdao, China: Capturing and reusing condensation water, saving 14,000 m³/year, equivalent to six Olympic-sized swimming pools.
