🆕 PUBLICATION 📖 by the European Alliance for Value in Health: "A Compass for Collaboration: Navigating Stakeholders’ Roles in Transitioning To Value-Based Healthcare" Despite the on-going momentum towards value-based healthcare (#VBHC), implementation is fragmented and mostly confined to localised pilot programs. Medical technologies play a critical role in the transition to value-based health care (#VBHC). These can revolutionise care by improving outcomes, reducing costs, and personalising treatment. Medtech innovations are already transforming care delivery, through enabling earlier detection, more precise treatment, and real-time monitoring - aligning perfectly with VBHC's goals of improving patient outcomes and reducing unwarranted variation in care. 💡 However, successful implementation of VBHC requires collaboration across all stakeholders, from patients to healthcare providers, academia and industry. This guide aims to offer actionable insights and practical guidance for the implementation of cancer care efficiency metrics across health systems. Efficiency in cancer care should deliver the best possible health outcomes by optimising the use of available resources - including human, financial, infrastructural and technological resources - rather than aiming to solely cut costs. All.Can defines efficiency as care that prioritises what truly matters to patients and society. To deliver this, we also need to broaden the data collected in routine practice, to include cancer-specific indicators and patient-reported outcomes. 💡 This approach is in line with value-based healthcare principles, and will support the delivery of high-quality efficient care for the future!
