🌍 Advancing inclusivity in research ethics: We're thrilled to announce that our working group has successfully contributed proposed revisions to the Declaration of Helsinki, focusing on inclusivity in research. Our recommendation on the standard of care has now been incorporated into the newly revised Declaration, specifically in Article 31! 🎉   What is the Declaration of Helsinki? The Declaration of Helsinki (DoH), developed by the World Medical Association in 1964, is a foundational document on human research ethics. This 2024 revision emphasises participant protection, particularly for vulnerable populations, and reaffirms ethical standards for research integrity and benefit sharing.   Key updates to the Declaration: 📌 Participant-centered inclusion and respect: Recognises participant vulnerability, community engagement, informed consent, global justice, and more.  📌 Research beneficence and value: Reinforces the pursuit of health, research integrity, and equitable distribution of benefits and burdens.   Are your interested in learning more about how research ethics committees can adapt to evolving standards around vulnerability in research? 🤔 Join us for our next working group meeting on 29 October 2024 from 14:00 to 15:30 CET. 📣 IANUS Project partner Tartu Ülikooli eetikakeskus/ The Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu gathered Estonian and international experts for the conference : "Trust = Survival?! Where does trust come from and where does it disappear and how to survive?" 🔥 Together with international experts, we explored the role of trust in the development of human communities and in survival, examining the significance of trust and community in our uncertain world. 🌟 Our partners presented the results of their work in the IANUS Project in a talk titled: "Do we know what trust in science depends on?". Global Ethics Day 2024 ✨🌍 Today, we celebrate #Global #Ethics #Day, a moment to reflect on the ethical responsibilities that shape our society, especially in science, education, and technology. Last week, on October 11th, #VERITY participated in the impactful conference “Navigating Ethical Challenges in Academia: The Role of AI and Trust” in Vilnius, Lithuania. During the event, Dr. Agata Gurzawska from Trilateral Research presented VERITY's innovative #ecosystem of #trust in #science, addressing the pressing ethical challenges posed by #AI in #education and #research.
