When clinical trials only capture a narrow slice of the population, the consequences are real, and widespread. This is a system problem AND a science problem and Amanda Bok shares below some of the global and EU-based efforts that are addressing these challenges head-on! IHI READI PFMD
🌍 On my way to Geneva for the 2nd WHO Global Clinical Trials Forum & discussions on the future of global health research with clinical trial leaders from around the world. 🌟 How do we design and run clinical trials that lead to better treatments for everyone? Because when clinical trials only capture a narrow slice of the population, the consequences are real, and widespread. - We miss valuable insights that could advance therapeutic science and improve how we target interventions - Inefficiencies grow as drugs underperform in real-world settings, driving up costs across the system - Regulatory reviews become longer and more complex due to lack of representative data - And confidence in the process drops, making trial participation even harder in the future 📢 It’s a science issue. It’s a system issue. That’s why I’ll be sharing the collective efforts underway with the Clinical Trials Distribution Network (CTDN), a global PFMD multi-stakeholder initiative to make trial information structured, searchable, and usable by the ecosystem of people and platforms working to connect patients to the right trials. 🤝 Europe is already taking a significant step forward through IHI READI - IHI’s largest consortia ever and the one with the most widespread patient participation. It’s a concerted effort to render underserved and underrepresented populations visible - to give them a voice - and to accelerate their access to the clinical trials most suited to them - through a bespoke digital platform built in response to their specific needs. 🎯 The goal is simple: Better data. Better science. Better outcomes. 🚀 I look forward to this meeting, engaging with experts from around the world, and together contributing to a more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered clinical trial landscape everywhere.
